I have received alerts regarding two new viruses which both exploit MSN Messenger (which I know to be popular with the members here). Both appear to be highly contagious and damaging. Keep your eyes peeled for suspicious MSN activity.
WORM_KELVIR.B - This memory-resident worm spreads copies of itself via MSN Messenger, a popular instant messaging application. It attempts to send an instant message to all online MSN messenger contacts of an affected user, which contains a URL that downloads a copy of this worm into a system (mostly arrives as a .pif file). Once the downloaded worm copy is executed, it may also download other malicious files on the affected machine.
WORM_FATSO.A - This memory-resident worm arrives on a system via MSN messenger, a popular instant messaging application. It spreads copies of itself to all online MSN messenger contacts of an affected system by sending an instant message containing a link, which when clicked, downloads a copy of this worm into the recipient's system.

Thanks for the warning

StooThere are two major products that come out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.
