I had a dream about him the other day. We were all in Amsterdam to watch Jimi on Countdown. Most odd
It's a shame. I'll miss watching Countdown.

Awww... didn't even know he was ill either...
Me too... I know this isn't the point of this thread but I don't think anyone would ever be as good as him.

I am actually shocked by his death. REally wasn't expecting that, knew he was ill and everything, but not that ill.
He'll be missed on Countdown
He'll be missed on Countdown
I knew they had got a stand in presenter for while he was ill, but had no idea it was this bad!
RIP.
RIP.
I really dunno what to say. I loved this guy to bits, just got a text from katie and though omg. I really am shocked, knew he was ill but thought he was better. Weather or not they'll continue countdown I don't know, but if they do it'll never be the same. This is one celebrity death I'm really upset about
OMG! Just found out about this from Katie. I only found out he'd been ill yesterday when I noticed a small article in a newspaper about him having an emergency heart operation. But even so, this is a huge shock, and it's so sad.
He was a dude and no-one could ever replace him. I'm gonna dig out my Richard Whitely t-shirt to wear tomorrow as a tribute. I'll also try and come up with as many bad puns as I can. Goodnight Mr. Whiteley, you'll be missed.

Countdown will not be the same without his poor jokes and garish shirts and ties.

I remember watching the first day of Channel 4 when countdown was the first show and Richard Whiteley was the first face. Sad to see him go.
who wants to campaign with me to get countdown repeated from the beginning? it must continue and not with a new presenter as it'd just be disrespectful and wrong! countdown is his show!!
i'm so upset, they played a little 'best bits' sequence when i found out about his death and it made me cry....he's just one of those people you always assume will be alive in some way...

RIP Richard - you were the dude. I always had this image of Richard slapping Carol's arse in the studio corridors. (I would have done if I was Richard)
Well, tomorrow afternoon Channel 4 is showing the last ever episode of Countdown to be presented by Richard Whiteley. It's being preceeded by a documentary about his life and then followed by a tribute to him by his friends and colleagues. I might have to set the video...
I was so shocked when i saw this on T21. i had no idea he had even been ill and i thought "maybe i'm reading it wrong, or i'm thinking of the wrong person" but then i read it and realised it was THE richard whiteley
This is the first "celebrity" death I've been shocked by in a long time as you just imagine someone like Richard Whiteley to go on forever and ever with the timeless shirts and ties
Now if they repeated it from the beginning in an evening slot then I'd happily watch it
I love Countdown, good old fashion simple puzzle show without all the whizz bang and messing about that "modern" game shows try to over develop. It's just a shame it was stuck in an afternoon slot when I'm working (only caught it on sick-days and holidays )
