One thing I remember from various articles on the subject is that you shouldn't register with anyone who asks for money up front or charges for new photos or insists you have a full professional portfolio first.

A good agent will make their money by getting you work, and if they think they can do that, then your photos are an investment for them.

Most will just ask for two photos - one headshot, one full-length, which don't have to be professional standard, just good enough for them to see you properly.

It might be an idea to check with local trading standards about any agency you're considering.

Any reputable agent will happily answer any questions you may have and gladly walk you through their procedures.

I think that some of the girls on T21 that have done modeling before aren't ones that post regularly here - so it may be worth contacting them directly (email/LJ/whatever).

Also, aim high -- kick off by contacting one of the top-end agencies (eg Models One) with a view to getting a feel for how a legit operation behaves, this way you'll be in a better position when dealing with less well known agencies.

Read through something like Modeling Scams although its very UScentric it may still be of use.

Except for kiddies agencies. We had to pay a smallish amount for Billy 'cos the agency does all the work for you rather than the model themselves going out to go sees'. Obviously an agency that will be doing underwear shots won't be a childs agancy 'tho

oh oh oh, sorry been away. I do know a great model agency site, although my mind has gone blank and not chatted up the bird who used to use it for ages. www.selectmodel.com/site/vcheck.html is quite a good one though. Have you also considered modeling on a cam site, I know a few of the people involved with them and you can get quite a bit of money from them and the 2 I know may look a bit dodgy but are legit.

you don't have to get naked. Basically if you join one and maybe pose in your underwear or just sexy clothes. You fan put up a wishlist and all the guys who fancy the pants off you will buy stuff from your wishlist (I wish I was a bird and could do this). Obviously some of the other girls take some very rue pics as well as doing private shows which gets them more money. The wishlist idea is cool though and you get things bought for you.

It would be legally catergorised as Soft-Core pornography.

Just because something is legal doesn't mean people can't find it distasteful.

(Read down to the fifth paragraph or so - I'm sure you'll agree: Ewwwww!)

Just be careful is my only advice.

I've had a lot of dealings in this sort of arena and there are a lot of scum bags out there. Whenever you go to a new assignment/agency always take someone with you. If they are straight up this should not bother them. And NEVER get pressured into doing something you don't want to do.

The whole cam thing in the US has gone a bit crazy now because of this new law they passed, that basically means that the content providers all the way down the chain have to provide their addresses and details. As the cam girls themselves are content providers it means they would have to provide their addresses. Which is *not* good. They could have a lot of creepy stalkers that way.

I know a few cam girls myself, but personally its not my scene. I can understand why they do it though...attention, 'fame' and money.

And in reply to Spitefulangel's original post, I gather that Bravissimo use volunteer models from among their customers, if you're the right sort of shape for their range. (Not that I claim knowledge of these things, but friends who buy from it say it's a company that's changed their lives. Well, one aspect of their lives, anyway. )

thanks for all the advice everyone, im just waiting for my lazy boyfriend to take some photos of me for an agency, and im definetly going to look into that bravissimo site!
