Spit or Swallow?
'Spit or Swallow?' - Quite possibly the biggest, most asked question in the 20th Century and it's very important in society.
I am of course talking about that substance which people either love or hate...Marmite!!! Personally i can't stand the stuff. The smell alone makes me wretch, let alone the taste.
So i was wondering...

I detest the stuff, same as Maff I can't even stand the smell.

What exactly is marmite?
What exactly is Bovril?
If marmite is what I think it is--some yeast product--whose idea was that it be used for food? And how is it served?

That's exactly what I was told before when I asked--but I don't know what vegemite is. And Bovril is something totally different isn't it?

I love marmite on toast, but it has to be spread really thinly otherwise its horrible.
Our works cleaners keep putting it in the fridge which makes it impossible to do this.
Oh, and if Marmite is like Vegemite then it's safe to say that Alyson Hannigan doesn't like Marmite.

How they are served? Well, I guess that entirely down to the individual. They can both serve as a spread (on toast etc...), or a spoonfull can be dissolved in a mug/cup of hot water to make a drink (nil/negligable fat and no caffiene).

OK, to be more precise it is indeed yeast extract. Looks and tastes as close to tar as I ever want to get.
Bovril I can live with. Nice in gravy and there used to be some crinkle cut crisps I vaguely remember being Bovril flavour that were quite yummy. Plus it comes from dead animals (being a beef spread), which is always a bonus.
