That is called growing up Or for some of us maturing

You develop certain skills over the years which do not always fit in the changing enviroment you are in. Because not only you are getting older but also the people around you are. And if you don't change the same as your enviroment this is seen as change because if you just grow along with them nobody will notice because you are all "moving".

And to make sure that we notice we are all changing, gals start their maturing phase a bit earlier So they see ooh we are changing and they guys also see uhmm ok.. why is she now a head taller than me. If we all just changed at the same time and the same rate we wouldn't notice unless we started to look outside our uhmm "safe zone"

But Spike it happends to all of us. And it will happen a lot more over the years still to come (Nope I'm not talking out of experience)

I've changed a lot over the past year and half, but that change has been I've become the person I was 14 years ago and that to me is the greatest thing that could happen to me, been hard and painful at times but now I couldn't be happier truely
And a lot of that is I have some great friends here included

Sange - I think my experience may be similar to your's. I changed back to someone similar, with similar beliefs, to the person I was before I met a certain someone (the ex) 13 years ago - I'm amazed how I compromised my principles to make someone else 'happy', and to try and make them like me more.

I'm different now - I have my principles, my opinions, my beliefs, and I will always discuss them, but if it's something I believe strongly in then I won't give up on it - and I think when someone truly loves you they will understand, accept the differences, and be proud of you for being a strong, principled person. (If not - :upset

As I've 'grown-up' (majorly in the last 4 years) I've learnt to not compromise, to believe in myself, value my own opinion, accept other people and their right to their opinion, and be more tactful. ( I hope!)

I've changed a lot. I'm still changing. I'm pretty sure it's for the better

I used to be really quiet and shy but now I'm more quietly confident and a deep person! I think being a Pagan/Wiccan has made me more self-confident too. When I started at my present school nearly 4 years ago I was very reserved and sensitive but now I am more friendly but I think some people might see me as a bit cold but I'm mysterious! I'm also a bit cynical now! My school has also taught me standards and introduced me to the world of Vogue and Elle magazines so I might be a teeny tiny bit snobbish but at the same time I'm a nice person-I don't think liking nice clothes and cosmetics and fashion means you are a stuck up arrogant person-its finding the right balance thinking about others too.

So yes, I have changed a lot during my teenage years!

Yes! Defintely. In a good way mostly, but I've also toughened up alot too!! So don't mess!

Was in a relationship through the years when I should have been growing up and having teenage fun, and looking back I now realise what a mistake that was.

Now I'm making up for it, having fun, and don't do anything just to please others.

So I guess I've changed in that respect.

Well, of course.

But change occurs at different rates at different points in your life, and I've been changing a lot in the last few months, as one would expect of going to uni. Partly it's the chance to meet people who haven't any pre-conceived ideas about who you are, partly in meeting a lot of new people your perception of your personality changes with respect to those people you now know, partly the change in situation forces realisation of changes that had occured while you weren't looking, or realisations of what's important to you by what you've gained or lost.

I've found change hard, not because it was for the worse, but because it was happening at all. I found myself acting in a way that wasn't natural to me in order to get the response I wanted out of people. I'm still not quite at home with my new outgoing self. The rewards in terms of the friends I've made have made it worthwhile, even if there are times I find myself wishing I could drift into the background in the way I used to.

The strange was finding out more about the person I used to be through the person I'd become: being able to trace some traits back to my childhood which I hadn't known existed.

That for me will never change

i've just managed to get 4 free pints of Guinness, so i'm well pleased, and yes, i like beer

I used to be shorter and have more hair.

I'd like to think that we all do in some respect... whatever life throws at us changes us i think

I definitely have. As a little girl i was very shy and withdrawn, i had a medical complaint that made kids not want to be friends with me.. and this lasted all the way through my childhood. I think once i met Ray, i began to change.. i became more confident.. because of him thankfully. Then my kids were born.. Joel's autism was diagnosed and then Hannah was born 3 months early last year and we faced the real possibility that we could lose her.. that definitely left its mark on both of us. I'm extremely protective of my kids, anyone ever upset them and they had better run... where they are concerned, i'm not shy or withdrawn.

I think i'm still shy, but i'm not as quiet as i used to be.. and i know i'm not withdrawn any longer
