If you are using Nero, there should be an option in there somewhere about burning a file as a VCD. That way, providing it will fit on a CDR (700meg), you should be able to watch it on the TV.

They do have a tendency of going out of sync if the quality of the avi isn't too great though. It's relatively easy to do

Do keep in mind that the quality of a vcd is a lot lower than those of modern hdtv avi's and they can take a while to re-encode (especially on slower machines). So just to look from the other side.... For 30 quid you can buy a pretty decent dvd burner put a 10'er down for some rewriteable media and you are sorted and it could save you a lot of hours (especially if you want to do this frequently).

If you have a TV out on your PC videocard (many semi modern and modern cards come with that standard) you could just link your PC up to your tv / dvd player if they are not too far away with two simple cables.

But Nero can re-encode avi's without much trouble although as mentioned sync can be a problem (although many avi releases have some sync issues anyways which is why you see so many "proper" and "sync fix" releases out too).
