Well to be honest really "learning how to drive" happens in the first 6 months or so after you pass your driving test Some (female) friends of mine had some very nice funnies when taking their driving lessons.... One of them is unable to remember which side left and right actually is which is very funny and another one was so nerves when the instructor said please go "straight" at the roundabout she actually went straight into the flowerbed and straight over the roundabout

I heard of one story of a guy doing his test who pulled to far out of the service centre at the start of his test. A lorry came along and tore the front of his car clean off. He then turned to the examiner and said 'Have I failed?'

I panicked the first time I saw another vehicle on the roads and came to a grinding halt. He was at a junction and I just paniced

And I'm taking my 'driving test' on ships in July, and they are a lot harder to drive

i was so unbelievably crap when i first started to drive (i am much better now...i promise!) M first driving lesson i kept tending towards the left and my driving instructor had to keep grabbing the steering wheel to stop me crashing. I'm still amazed that i never crashed! But after about 5 months (20ish lessons) i did my test which went really badly but i still managed to pass so it's alll good.

I've just driven after not driving for 8 weks, i was scared i wouldn't remember how to drive but it's all flooded back

I knew a girl at school who crashed her instructors car into the back of a stationary combine harvester

Ray almost went into the back of a bus one time when he was learning to drive. His mum was in the car (as well as me) and she said that was the only time she felt nervous in a car with him. His parents used to take him out in the car on occasion before he had proper driving lessons. He passed his test first time, his mum and his sister passed second time.

I'm just not brave enough to learn and Ray wouldn't let me within ten feet of his car (his pride and joy) even if i could drive.

I've had a couple of lessons, but thats it! I'm 22, and I'm still not too bothered about learning to drive...I think I'm going to have to at some stage, but I'm really not too bothered for now (getting used to the trains and walking!)

My sister (18 months younger than me) seemed to get on quite well with driving, and was having 2 lessons a week towards the end. She passed first time, and I guess that might have something to do with why I'm putting it off - I don't want to look stupid compared to her LOL!

Driving is evil. I'm so scared of driving.

There's something satisfying about driving alone in the car without any distractions from passengers. Once you've passed your test, it's get a feel for your car and the roads that's the main thing.

Once I passed I was driving 40-50 miles consistently for the few weekends after just for something to do

I had one friend who after passing refused to use "A" roads and would rather dother twice as far for the same journey on back roads (which I personally think are more lethal!) A girl from many years back once took us out in her car and it broke down because nobody had told her that you need to keep it topped up with water/oil and she'd been running the banger around so low after a while

The only funny thing I remember on a lesson was a couple of bicycles squeezed really close to the car from behind us whilst parked at traffic lights. My instructor wound down the window and gave them a ton of verbal abuse for nearly touching the mirrors

I found driving alright. Well, that's not true, i find it alright now, but i despised it when i was learning. I hated having someone hovering over me, watchjing me so closely and telling what to do and where to go. I know that's their job, but still

But as soon as i passed (first time ) i loved it, being on my own in the car felt great. I dunno what i'd do now if i couldn't drive for getting to all the various hospitals and whatnot
