So, in your opinion, where did brittish TV go wrong (if at all)?
This would take way to long... suffice to say we lack the infrastructure to produce either writers or directors who think and tell stories visually. The networks pander to the lowest common denominator, and their response to falling audience numbers is to cut costs and budgets rather than increase quality.
Has it dumbed down? Is that good or bad?
Yes. Bad.
Regarding dumbing down ... ITV is remaking Goodbye Mr Chips at the moment. They had the choice of either Martin Clunes or Kenneth Branagh. Guess which one they went with?
Does the BBC deserve the lisense fee any more or should they be commercial like the others?
Public Service Broadcasting is IMO vital, however, the BBC need to start reminding themselves of their remit and stop chasing ratings at all costs.
Has satalite/digital TV helped to dumb down our TV?
Yes.
And finally, what is the worst british program around?
French and Saunders, Coronation Street or anything starring one of the following:
David Jason
Sarah Lancashire
Amanda Burton
Ross Kemp
Nick Berry
That said, the list to choose from is a long one.
