Bill Gates: "I don't want to be world's richest man"

Bill Gates claims he doesn't want to be the world's richest man, and says "nothing good comes of it".

Ironic, considering that I'd say that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a shining example of someone with more money than one person can possibly use who doesn't just sit around and hoard his entire fortune...

Very good point. His monopoly shenanigans aside, always felt Mr Gates got a raw deal. There's much worse out there.

Like Samanfur this guy spends a lot of his fortune through his foundation and does a lot of good work still he gets all crap for being so rich.

Life can't be easy if not even your tax returns can be dealt with normally. But seriously he must get so many request for donations left right and center and the moment you deny someone (because you don't support their cause for example) everyone complains you are greedy.

But come on what the heck do you need 27bn pounds for? He had some good ideas, and stole some other good ideas and combined them relatively well..... who said you had to be creative to get money

Bu if he would have a smart investment portfolio he can easily get a 5% return after taxes and inflation correction. Thats 1.35bn dollars free spendable income out of interest alone...... How the hell do you spend so much money! Just to put it in proportion thats about the gnp of a medium to small third world country!

He probably just wants a "normal life" without all the attention etc (nobody hassles the number 10 on the list) but I guess thats something that even money can't buy.
