A few of our staff went on a trip to China last night. One of them called us up one afternoon to say "we've just eaten crab semen!"

Mmm, tasty....

One time when I was scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of food in the cupboard, I very nearly came out with a concoction of chocolate flavour macaroni....

Lol I just about to tuck into some food whilst I was watching it, I changed my mind .

Oysters dont you pretty much swallow them straight down, if thats the case whats the point I like to taste my food

Glad to say that i hadn't had dinner whilst it was airing... the octopus was just disgusting *shudder*

Can't say i've ever eaten anything that's considered 'weird', my stomach is just too sensitive.

I can't eat anything funny. Even if it's on tv I start gagging. I did have aligator tail in Florida once but it was only a tiny piece and I swallowed without chewing, lol.

I ate battered squid when I was Egypt years ago. It very chewy and tastes a bit like chicken.

I was in the kitchen earlier waiting for my pasta to soften when my Chinese flatmate came in and took a packet of something that looked like raw chicken out of the fridge. When I asked if thats what it was, she laughed and said it was raw jellyfish =/ After offering me some she proceeded to add some herby thing, pour on some seasame oil and eat it...

Needless to say I declined, and went back to my pasta, lol.

So many comments. All of them not allowed outside the after hours forum...

Incidently, as a lot of what we think is taste is actually smell (see Tea), swilling it around your gob is not an absolute necessity to get the taste of something. Just to be pedantic. And oysters are yummy.

Weird food? Got a bit of a thing about Peanut butter and Brie sarnies at the mo, but I guess that's not what you mean. All the usual squid and ostrich and croc and Kanga type stuff, and probably some horse. Went to a place in Cali where there was a tank full of live crabs and you could watch them go from there to being cooked while you ate... But nothing really cool, like blowfish or monkey eyeballs.

Mmmmmmonkey eyeballs...

Thats the most revolting thing I've ever heard of!

Cow brains--which is kind of scary considering the whole mad cow disease thing.

When I was kid, we were visiting someone who cooked a big breakfast, including scrambled eggs with some little white "things" mixed up in it. I had some. Didn't taste very good--especially the little white things. I asked what it was and I was told, "brains and eggs." Since I couldn't believe they meant real brains, I said--like an idiot--what are "brains." So the woman told me, cow brains. I thought that was the most disgusting thing I'd ever heard--even as a kid. Obviously, I've been scarred for life.

When I was younger my grandpa brought along some old fashioned type of beets (can't remember what it was exactly) that a good friend of him had grown in his little public garden. The day after my mother prepped them but even in small chunks it was impossible to boil them so that they actually got soft enough to eat. But after an hour my mum had had enough of it and decided we would just eat them as was. It was absolutely horrible!

The day after that my grandpa called and asked if we had already ate the beets as he had found out that they weren't actually the beets he thought it were. They ended up to be the beets they normally use for cow food and were in no way meant for human consumption.

But it tastes soooooooooo good!

I had a really nice meal the other week of a chicken fillet stuffed with strawberries and covered in peppercorn sauce. It was yummy!!
