I'm happy. Me and Yvonne will do our annual get together and get pissed on the night while posting on here as they enter the house
Big Bother....

Who's happy..
And who, like me, is planning to hide in a hole with no tv in it....?

You're gonna be in the BB house?

I didn't quite watch it as avidly last year as other years, but this year I hope to change that.
Did anyone see about the 'Willy Wonka' style golden ticket that they are putting into Special Edition KitKats? There will apparently be 100 tickets somewhere over an area of 40,000 retail outlets and the random 'Joe Bloggs'-esque person that is picked at random will enter the house.
Not a bad idea really.

It all kicks off on the 18th May (next Thursday)
There's rumoured to be a celebrity joining them (but that was rumoured last year too and it didn't happen )
The kitchen is half inside and half outside the house, the furniture is all inside out to try and make things uncomfortable i.e. garden stuff inside and comfy sofas outside, all interior walls are see through and the bathroom has a toilet, a shower, a bath, and 2 urinals.
Who'd want a golden ticket with that set up - guarenteed to drive the most laid back individual bonkers within a week. I liked BB when it first started and was about normal people interacting with no outside interferance, but the evil bitchfest it's turned into turns my stomach somewhat. But i''ll still endup getting caught up in it all lol

and im glad to see im not the only person who hates the whole thing.
and for those who are going to point out that if im not interested in this traversty of a tv show i dont have to watch - what you8ve got to realise is that i also cant read any papers for the duration of the show, im going to have to listen to everyone at work going on about it in the canteen, and everywhere i look online is going to have things on it - im seriously not going to be able to escape something that i think is far more exploitative than anything else currently around - hell, even most pr0n isnt that bad for exploiting people.
Huh!?

Gotta agree with you there mad, this is one show I hate that there is simply no escape from! It's in all the papers, all the news, every website, every radio station - every sodding place you can think of! Even humanitarian crises don't seem to get this kind of coverage - well, at least nowhere near for as long...
OK, millions of people watch BB so I can appreciate that something so popular gathers attention like nobody's business, but do the rest of us have to put up with it even when we change channels or switch the TV off? Christ, it's nearly worse than patriotically apathetic non-lovers of sport during the World Cup! *whistles innocently *
[/rant] (If anyone needs me, I'll be hiding from the gang of BB fans throwing surplus furniture from previous series' house setups )

I agree with Geri that it was much better when it was just a load of people left to interact. I don't know whether I'll watch this time. It usually depends on whether I'm in on the first night, lol. Probably not this year.
As for avoiding it, it's usually not that hard. It's always all over Channel 4/E4, but there'll be very little on other channels (except maybe the odd news bulletin on ITV and Channel 5). The broadsheets won't cover it much and neither will the Daily Mail (unless there's some sort of moral outrage angle to cover it from). Commercial radio will be awash with it, but that's not really worth listening to at the best of times (practically all of the stations down here play exactly the same song at the same time!).

LOL...yeah I've heard this from people at work as well...they're all going to start buying them for lunch and if they get a ticket giving it to me. Would be a great way to get in

I guess we know what Milky will be eating for the next few weeks, lol
I heard that the people that win tickets are then auditioned to see who's the best (and I use that word losely) and that one person goes in. As much as I love watching I must admit it's mainly to see the kind of twat who who ends up on there. Seriously, are there any BB stars that are even semi respected? They mainly end up a z listers who go to the opening of an envelope and make nightclub appearances. The whole counrty laughs at them
Please check the earth is still on its axis after you read my confession: I watched the first series of Big Brother.
Seems we're still here. Goodo.
No really I did. Forget all that fluff from C4 about a social experiment, I know it was trash TV, but it was compelling. An orbit of backstabbing and treachery circling a mustache-twirler who would put a Victorian music-hall to shame. (Nasty Nick, king of cads, I salute you.)
Now I can't stand it, but have I reformed my ways? Have I heck, I've just jumped ship and become an avid Apprentice fan. Big Brother's been beaten at its own game. The Apprentice employs the best editing on TV to mould a Big Brother scenario into a compelling narrative. The original has been reduced to a bunch of aggressive dunderheads constantly on the piss with the occasional bout of shagging and common assault for variety.
It's committed vaudeville's mortal sin -- it's got boring.

Tuan works for the same company as me (he's one of our Financial Consultants) and I've met him a few times - nice bloke, but just as wet as he was on the show

As for Big Brother, I'll employ the same "will I or won't I watch it?" tactic as I always do; watch the first show and see if there's anyone I fancy. If there's a hottie in there I'll watch the show to see them strip in the sun, if not I'll watch just so I can slag off the housemates
... hang on, there isn't a "won't I" result in there...
Ahh, DM, Marky, PoF and I are going on holiday in Turkey for two weeks during the show - there's my "won't I"
I've just realised I'll be in France for the final so it's probably best if I don't get hooked on it!

I'm happy. I've generally enjoyed Big Brother and while I do realise it's train wreck TV I always get hooked.
I just saw an ad on E4 which showed pictures of the house. Lets just say it looks "interesting"
Think I might spare Matt and not really bother with it this year. Might just watch the contestants going in, which oddly enough is happening on Thursday, not Friday

Well I'll have the tv to watch just watch my Buffy and Doctor Who box sets instead. Can't get enough of Capt Jack. Just have Empty Child/Doctor Dances on repeat with the hilarious commentary.
