Below is my all time greatest team and substitutes.
Who would you pick instead and why?
Goalkeeper - Lev Yashin
Left Back - Paulo Maldini
Right Back - Frank Rijkaard

The only trouble with things like this is the problem of ending up with a collection of players rather than a team. For instance, the front 6 in Incs team are all legendary players, but were all (because they were so good) the dominant players in their teams. Wouid their inherant class mean that they would be able to play together or would you need 6 balls? Who knows.
Anyway, here's mine, I've restricted myself to players who I can actually remember playing, so no-one pre about 1982ish.

There's also the problem that any list is biased by who your team is...
On that note:
Goalkeeper - Peter Shilton - Almost went for Seaman, but I genuinely believe that Shilton was the most reliable keeper to have played professional football. Both are great exponents of the 'keep it simple, no need for acrobatics' school of goalkeeping.
Left Back - Stuart Pearce - Solid, dependable, as well as a great motivator and underated passer.
Right Back - Gary Kelly - Don't Laugh! I genuinely think he is the perfect example of the modern full-back - both ample to get forward and support an attack and still get back to cover his defensive role. I considered some of the more famous right-backs, but found most of them wanting in defensive ability. And not because they never played for Leeds...
Centre Back - Bobby Moore - Quite easy to get emotional about the chap, but he was a rock and a gent. An all time great.
Centre Back - John Charles - Needed to fit in the Gentle Giant and Leeds and Juve great somewhere, so here will do.
Left Wing - Harry Kewell - Notice a pattern? Don't care 'cos he's staying.
Right Wing - Steve MacManaman - Much underated player who's best we have yet to see.
Centre Midfield - Billy Bremner - As someone once put it (though possibly not verbatum) he'd split himself in half for the team's cause.
Centre Midfield - Lothar Mattheus - All time great. 'Nuff said.
Centre Forward - Pele - and yes, I still haven't forgiven Maradonna for '86, so he's not on the list.
Centre Forward - Michael Owen - A little young? Yeah, but his accuracy and pace still make him one of the best, for me...

David Beckham (because I couldn't bring myself to putting .. one of them lot in the first team.
