Funny Food Fads

I was making tea tonight for my kids with the normal shouts for "I just want butter on my bread" and "Cheese and Ham mum" etc etc, thinking about what I was going to have and deciding on Cheese and Jam sarnies. To this my kids looked at me and went ewwwwwwwwwww. I thought about it and yes some of the things I eat and combinations sound pretty nasty but taste yummy.
I'm partial to my yorkshire puds with Syrup on and fishing my dumplings out of my stews, bits of gravey carrot leek etc still clinging to them and covering them in Syrup too.

So what about you, do you have any "weird" Food Fads ? and if so why? what made you try it in the first place ?

Hmmmm, not sure I have any unusual fads. But, as anyone who knows me well will attest, I do like to drown my food in salt, ketchup or salad cream depending on what I'm having.

And I do like to eat chips with gravy or salad cream on them

Not sure if there's anything else but I'll come back if I can think of anything

Don't really eat weird stuff. I do like my chip 'n' cheese sarnies from time to time, and smothering food (pasta mainly, but anything else will do) in parmesan but other than that I'm very boring

Banana & Marmite sandwiches with blueberry maple syrup

Like everything else I 'create' it was due to the fact that I couldn't decide which individual thing I wanted, so I combined them.

(& no, I'm not pregnant, I just put marmite & maple syrup in almost everything...well, I don't eat chocolate so I've got to get my sugar high somehow)

White Hart So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Well, I got a big 'yuck' in another thread when I said I liked peanut butter and coleslaw sandwiches

I also like cottage cheese and peanut butter on Ryvita, but only if it's pineapple cottage cheese.

I suppose cheese and jam is only like cheese and very sweet pickle, but it just *sounds* awful to me. And as for

It's yummy .. after all dumplings are just suet

but the ickle bits add flavor

Another thing is when cooking steak (like to fry this) when its almost cooked I get a slice of bread and dip it in the burning hot meat fat akin to dripping I supose and thats very very nice

Now they are seriously weird food fads...

my stomach is churning just reading them....

The weirdest i get is Dairylea on toast, or peanut butter and jam sandwiches, and i know that they're not weird... oh, and as a kid i loved banana sandwiches..but syrup on yorkshire puddings....*shudder*
