yeah they have enough money why they need more? if they're a millionaire thats enoguh.
Celebs - Are they worth the money?
Halle Berry has reportedly demanded a huge pay rise from the cosmetic company Revlon for the adverts she is due to film for them - because she won an Oscar.
The Head honcho, Ron Perelman, has refused to up her $1million a year deal.
Personally I think he's right to refuse. Yes, she won an Oscar, for her acting in a *film* (adverts hardly seem taxing) but should that automatically mean she can now demand more money for her services?
Made me think about all the different celebs and the millions they get for a couple of months of make believe, or walking up and down a catwalk (must be *such* hard work!). They have personal assistants for *eveything*, make insane demands and get pretty much everything they ask for.
Sure, they entertain us, but so do stand ups in small comedy clubs, and they don't make millions. Are they *really* worth it?

Celebrities serve an extremely important purpose in society. They give us lowly commoners something to talk about, they entertain us on screen, on the stage and on the air waves and they drive entire industries.
Without celebrities, our lives would be much more boring.
I say a big 'Well done' to anybody who can earn that kind of money, but i agree with the Revlon guy's descision. Asking for that amount more money is an unreasonable request.

We need celebs, otherwise we would not have anything to talk about, lol.
But they are really over rated and over priced nowdays

There's a culture amongst some of the better known footballers when they're renegotiating their pay to ask for a figure which had no signifcance other than that it makes them the highest paid player at the club, or in some cases, the country.

I imagine it's the same in acting (and many other professions too) where someone may feel that if they ask for fees equivalent to those asked for by top stars, they themselves will be seen as a 'top star'. It may well be that Miss Berry sees herself in that league now she has an Oscar.
It's a question of supply and demand.
There are a finite number of famous people capable of driving revenue by their sheer presence.
Tom Cruise gets $20m a picture because his presence in it guarantees a big opening weekend.
Halle Berry is the only African American ever to win the Best Actress Oscar and as such has a unique celebrity profile as one of the most instantly recognisable women in the world right now and one who brings with her highly positive connotations.
If her involvement in their advertising boosts sales by millions of dollars, then yes she is worth it.
If not, they wouldn't have wanted her in the first place.
The shelf life for actresses is significantly shorter than that for leading men and having never been a major player, it is hardly surprising that she wishes to feather her nest now.
Good luck to her.

I tend to agree. The fact that the company were willing to pay her £1m in the first place is indicative that they considered that they were recieving some thing for this. If they just wanted someone to walk up and down, I'd have done it for a tenner (plus expenses ). Considering the ammount of publicity Miss Berry has had in the past week and how her profile has been raised I can see why she would consider that her value to the company has gone up correspondingly.
Your life may be more boring without them, but I'm sorry my life doesnt depend on films stars to make it interesting

I know that I can't survive without my weekly photos of Christopher Biggins walking his dog or Lionel Blair emptying his trash in Hello or Heat

I guess she just has to be careful she doesn't price herself out of the market. Or gain the Superstar attitude. She always seemed pretty down to earth before the Oscar.
I don't begrudge stars of *any* entertainment field their millions (God knows when their career will be over all of a sudden).......as long as they've earnt it and *continue* to earn it and act with dignity and grace. There's nothing worse than seeing the brats of the industry who think the world owes them respect and the living to which they have become accustomed. Step forward Russell Crowe.
The trouble starts when a star, such as Berry, suddenly hits it big (and winning an Oscar doesn't get much bigger) and they start to believe their own hype and change overnight and start to demand ridiculous amounts of money for even the most basic things.
I really hope she's not at the top of a really slippery slope.

Goldarnit! How could I have missed both of those?
