Hmmmm.... I'd like to hear that, it could be cool. Of course it could be awful too, but we'll have to wait and see.
This has gotta get some opinions.
Apparently Fred Durst and Avril Lavigne had a bit of a collaboration while she was doing a gig in the US.
Lavigne invited the Bizkit frontman to perform with her on her single 'Complicated' and it is expected to be included on her live album released sometime later this year around September.
Opinions people? I know there has got to be the odd raised eyebrow.

If it's anything like that Chop Suey version, I may be forced to slit my wrists...

I don't think anything could be that bad...

But this is someone else singing on an Avril track rather than Avril singing someone else's song, so the question really is how good can Fred Durst sing Complicated? I'm trying to imagine him doing it now, and in my head it sounds awful. But he did do a good version of Faith, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I reckon he would cover the chorus like he did on Staind's live version of 'Outside'. But agreed, the proof is in the pudding
Can't really be any worse than her cover version of Knocking on Heaven's Door can it?
Then again, I haven't heard her Metallica tribute yet...

I seem to remember thinking that her version of Knocking on Heavens Door was actually quite good. Though at the moment I can't remember how it sounds or even when I've heard it. So I'll have to give it another listen.
I saw a little bit of that Metallica thing when I was visiting my parents recently. I didn't see Avril's bit, but I heard her say she was gonna be doing 'Fuel'. I get the feeling that it's gonna sound as bad as Chop Suey. Doesn't she realise that she doesn't have the voice for that kind of song?

I downloaded Avril's version of 'Knockin' from Kazaa today and it's actually very good although I haven't heard her perform it live.
As far as the Fred Durst thing is concerned, not sure about that. Have to hear it to form an opinion.
And, yeah, PoF is right. She ha a fantastic voice but she needs to stick to material that suits it.

Her live version of Knocking on Heaven's Door was one of the most deathly showstoppers (in the worst sense) I have ever seen.
Most of the audience near me switched off completely and chatted until she finished.
Having heard the recorded version, I can honestly say it brings back the memory and that she should be charged with crimes against music.

And, yet again, this reminds me why me and Inc are poles apart in our tastes in............well, pretty much everything
*shrug*
Can't say that I'm a fan, but the stuff I hear on the radio is pleasant enough.
However, I've happened to catch her on TOTP twice in the recent past and I can only imagine how good her studio engineers are because on each program its obvious that she is singing live (kudos for that) but she was woefully out of tune.

Oh my life! Two of the people in music who I *really* don't like. Can't say I'll be listening out for it.

Anyone else heard 'Country and Western' Avril?
After having a mooch on Kazaa, I discovered two ditties called 'Touch The Sky' and 'Two Rivers' which, presumably, was made before she hit the big time and adopted her Sk8er look.
I'm tellin ya, Dolly Parton would be proud of these two

Apparently she was first going to be marketed as a Country & Western singer, kinda along the lines of Leanne Rimes (sp?) but her marketing people decided to give her the "Sk8er" image as it's more popular. Nothing worse than a skater who isn't *really* a skater

Ah, but you should really hear this stuff, T. I mean, it's really cheesey. Stereotypical, Dolly Parton-like stuff.
I keep playing it and laughing!

(really need an msn :S smilie there )
But just think how much better it would have been if they had marketed Avril as a country & western singer.
