Johnny Marr ... what a nice man
Johnny Marr (great guitarist) and a thoroughly nice man.
I've just got back from a long weekend in Canada for my birthday. Luckily we switched to visiting Montreal rather than as originally planned, Toronto (SARS is back).
Got there Thursday night and saw a poster for Johnny Marr + the Healers, playing at a local club on Friday night. So went along had a fantastic night, very small club in the University district. Meet a couple of Canadian guys
lots of chat, drinking & dancing.
But the best part of the whole night was when we were leaving to go to another bar. Outside getting into his car was Johnny Marr. So egged on by my friend and one of the guys, I went over and introduced myself, asked for an autograph. When he realised I was English he really got chatty, asking how long I was over there, where I was staying etc... He couldn't believe I was there just for the weekend. He was really friendly and happy to chat to us, even though he'd only got off stage about 20 mins before. He even recommended a few bars/clubs to go in Montreal.

Bernard Butler was the guitarist in Suede, and has done stuff solo and with David McAlmont since then. Electronic were good, though.Always nice to hear of a friendly celebrity. One suspects you might not have got the same thing from Morrissey..
