Throw CDs away?? Does not compute! I don't think I've ever got rid of any of mine in any way shape or form.

I learnt my lesson in my mid-teens when I threw away my Kylie tapes that I had once loved so much but were now just an embarassment and which I would surely never want to listen to again.... That still haunts me to this day...

I'd never throw a perfectly working cd in the bin - no no no! One man's junk is another man's treasure.

Selling on ebay though is only really worthwhile if you've seen similar stuff selling on there. After all you have to pay to sell it there.

I've never thrown anything away yet (as PoF says you might decide you want to listen to something later - phases in music go around). But I'd probably ask around to see if anyone wanted it first, if not, it would make a trip pass the nearest charity shop.

You could donate them to your local library if you're feeling charitable But if you want to make some money, then Ebay is usually a good idea, and if you have some rare CD's, i think Amazon have a marketplace type thing on their site too, though i'm not entirely sure how that works.

I just move other things out the way so my CD library grows, I only have about 300 as not really bought many in ages, but I put up an extra shelf when I run outta space and anything that was on the shelves above I put somewhere else so I have room for my cds.

I never throw CDs away. I threw all my tapes away a few years ago, but hardly any of them were originals anyway.

CDs arent much of a problem, I just put another shelf up. it's the vinyl that causes me problems as it's realy heavy.

My vinyl shelf is already bowing under the weight & I daren't put any more on it. I'd hate to come home one day & find all my records spilled all over the floor.

Last time I wanted to get rid of a CD (or any other music recording) was .. well .. oh, I forget. Sometime around '95 I think.

I'd foolishly bought a copy of Supergrass' first album. It had a couple of cute tracks (Alright and Caught By The Fuzz come to mind) but most of it would give dross a bad name. I had a conversation with a mate of mine who said he could top that for dumb purchases, as he'd recently bought post-rick's Tortiose album, Millions Now Living Will Die. Or something.

Anyway, as I had a vague desire to investigate post-rock by buying something by either Tortoise or LaBradford, we agreed to swap, as we both felt the grass was greener.

I can now safely say that that the Tortoise album is a load of (mostly harmless) pretentious meandering. And though I think I played the album only once after the swap, I still think I got the better deal.

The point? I don't get rid. Very few of my purchases end up with me wishing I hadn't. It would be fair to say that a large number of my CDs probably haven't played for a while. Tapes and vinyl even longer. Still won't chuck 'em. If a friend showed an interest in something I no longer desired (and most of these would be dodgy tapes and vinyl, not my CDs) then I would let them take it. If I really wanted rid of something, I'd take it to a second hand CD store and sell it. After I'd bought a load myself, obviously.

Now, what really causes me problems are old computer demo CDs. Can't bring myself to bin them, have no use for them nor could I sell them or give them away. I'm not a big fan of CD burning, and more importantly I don't have a CD burner, so I can't copy over them.

So if anyone would like some useless CDs, just let me know.

Maybe we should have a T21 swap shop? I have quite a stack that I don't want but can't be arsed with all the posting if I sell on Ebay. A car boot sale would be good but I can't do one on my own as the vultures swoop the moment you get there and I'd need back up. I'd only spend the money I got on more CDs so swapping would be ideal

I am *so* old!

Dumped all my old tapes last year, after converting them to MP3. Vinyl is now boxed up in a cupboard somewhere are being converted to MP3.

I gave a lot of CD's to the local charity shop. Old Blue's Collection Discs.

The only disc i've thown was a 'Mozart' my mum gave me.
As the collection grows the rack just gets bigger. Also 'borrow' stuff from the library and if its any good I sometimes MP3 it.

I can not bring myself to throw any of my CDs (even my New Kids On The Block ones... I was young!) so I've spent weeks copying them onto my computer, putting the CDs into a carry case which holds 320 discs and I have boxed the cases up safely and put them in the attic. The carry case is compact and user friendly thus conquering the probelm of storage space!!!!

I'm about to send about 30/40 CD's to *gasp* the charity shop! But if anybody on here has a burning desire to own some CD singles from 94/95 ish then email me at the address on teh profile and I'll send you a list
