Firstly, welcome to the boards! And what a topic to start with!

Gotta agree, I love PoM too. I haven't picked up their new album yet, but it is defo on the 'To Buy' list. Come Clean was great I thought and the latest single, Away From Me was a good way to start them off.

Hmmm, my favourite *band* (and i use the term loosely) isn't actually a rock band, or even a band for that matter. my favourite group is Steps by far and i don't care what anyone else says about them. the make me happy and bouncy. CD wise i would have to say Last Dance as it's got all the good songs on and then some. website wise, i always used gensteps.co.uk, but that wasn't the official site. yay Steps

my band of choice would have to be Bad Religion. With my favourite album being Suffer. Suffer is the most hardcore of their albums, and was the one that rejuvenated the LA punk scene. find out more at www.badreligion.com

My favourite group is Matchbox Twenty. Rob Thomas, the lead singer has an awesome, awesome voice and their stuff is just brilliant. I'd love to see them live someday but they never get close enough for me to get there. Their official website is www.matchboxtwenty.com I've been a member of the GD (stands for General Discussion) in some shape or form for nearly four years though i haven't posted there much as of late. Favourite CD by them at the moment would have to be their latest "More Than You Think You Are", though "Yourself or Someone Like You" is an extremely close second.

My absolute favourite band and has been for almost 16 years is Aerosmith. Seen them live twice and i still have my T-shirt from the "Pump" tour of 1989. Favourite CD by them is Nine Lives.

Also a fan of Puddle of Mudd also, i've been listening to "Come Clean" a lot these last couple of weeks and their new CD is on my "to buy" list also.

Love Dishwalla at the moment. Got into them when i heard "Angels or Devils" on the Smallville S2 episode "Ryan" (the track played at the very end of the episode). All i've heard is their CD "Opaline" which is a brilliant CD and totally recommended.

Other bands i'm a big fan of are Train, Nickelback and i'm starting to listen to a bit of Bon Jovi when the mood takes me. Also like listening to Robert Palmer and Richard Marx, again when the mood suits me and also Duran Duran

My favourite band of all-time would have to be the Manic Street Preachers. Favourite album... I'm not sure. I'd probably say that The Holy Bible is their best, but my favourite is probably Gold Against the Soul, just because... I dunno! This sounds like a bit of a copout, but I really don't know if I have a favourite band! I like so much stuff that its really difficult to narrow it down to even a couple of them!

I don't have a favourite band I like allsorts (The Wildhearts, Alkaline Trio, Hole, The Lemonheads, Tom Petty, Justin Timberlake, Kid Rock) but seeing as the title is 'favourite rock band' I'd have to go for Aerosmith with Motley Crue & KISS very close seconds

Personally, not sure about what qualifies as Rock and doesn't anymore, seems like a pretty amorphous phrase for popular music with a guitar based sound, though there's no doubt plenty of bands that fit that description that seem uncomfortable labelled as rock (Doves come to mind) and those that don't that are rock (Ben Folds Five).

But enough of the blathering! I'll just do the obvious thing and list my all time favourite band, like everyone else. Which won't surprise most people as being Depeche Mode. Best Album? Tough One. For me, the obvious contenders are Violater, Songs of Faith and Devotion and Exciter. And while Violater is the critically aclaimed album, however I'll have to go for Songs of Faith and Devotion, if for no other reason than that it was the album that got me into the Mode. Although I probably play Exciter more than the other two... As for websites, I rarely got band websites, so I can't comment. Well, the AFI one looks pretty cool, but has nothing to do with DM, obviously...

PoM? Nice singles. Especially 'She * Hates Me'. However I saw an interview where the singer got all prudish about their break through single. I forget the title, but its the one where he sings about love the way you smack my ass, etc. Anyway, he went to great pains to say that he was singing from the woman's perspective at that point, and that it would be weird for a guy to 'love the way you smack my ass'. At which point the lost all credability for me.

I'd say my favourite rock band are Rage Against the Machine.

Favourite CD from that band would undoutedly be Rage Against the Machine, their debut album. Fantastic songs such as Bullet in the Head, Killing in the Name and Wake Up speak for themselves, but the rest of the album is great too.

I love all of their albums, but after Rage Against the Machine, i'd probably say Renegades is my second favourite. It's an album that is full of covers, but Rage take the songs and make them totally their own. Great stuff.

Honourable mentions go to Pantera, Audioslave and Metallica, who i also love.

I can't think of one in particular, although Queen come pretty high.

I like pretty much anything in the 'late 80s, poodle hair rock' genre, such as Skid Row, Motley Crue and Bon Jovi (anything before 'These Days').

Iron Maiden at the MEN a couple of years ago were pretty good too.

If you're talking about roack as in everything from punk to metal then it would have to be Nightwish: Century Child or Angels Fall First.

If you're thinking of straight rock then MeatLoaf: Batt Out Of Hell

For me it's just got to be AFI, either them or motion city soundtrack, they're both very different bands though..... and put the refused on the list too!
