I was backstage at Leeds (guest camping and showers too ). Was a last minute thing but it was cool. Nothing beats standing on the side of the stage watching bands rather than being in the sweaty crush. I also got to talk to my darling Ginger Wildhearts, who looked genuinly pleased to see me and gave me a great big kiss on the lips *swoon*
Reading/Leeds 2004
So, this is coming a bit late, but I know a few of you guys went this year. How was it? What were the best bits? Worst bits? Any stories? Anyone at Reading come across the Dave Rave?
I did Reading for the first time this year, it's definately different to Leeds, but I wouldn't say either is better. Had an amazing time though. Drank far more than I usually do and still haven't quite recovered (swigging Lambrini from the bottle at 11am is just soooo classy)! The best part was realising that the 'shuttle boat' from the car park was actually a boat! Worst part was falling asleep all the time! I didn't do so badly this year, fell asleep during whoever was on before Franz Ferdinand and then had to miss the White Stripes to go back to bed. But usually I fall asleep at least 4 times in random places (lying against the barrier in the Radio 1 tent is surprisingly comfy), so I am getting better! Once I woke up to a crowd of people and a round of applause because I'd literally just fallen asleep in the middle of the arena - wasn't even drinking back then! I always manage to wake up on the last night, during the very last band, which is sooo annoying - I wish I had that energy all weekend!
My cousin is in a band, so my brother, at Leeds, went to meet him backstage. So not fair! He got to meet soo many people! Oh well...I had an amazing time and met tons of people. They just weren't famous, but why should that matter?

I wish I could've gone, I don't suppose anyone saw Reel Big Fish did they? Coz those crazy dudes aren't coming back til next year now
Well, I managed the Saturday and Sunday at Reading. Had back stage pass for the Sunday (only Guest area, none of this flouncing about side stage - ) so had access to nice toilets and seating instead of the cesspool called the queue to the mens toilets (never mind the actual things) and being kicked for the umpteenth time as someone tries to get to the front and doesn't bother looking where they're going.
Loved:
The Duke Spirit
Franz Ferdinand
Stereolab
MC5 playing Kick Out The Jams
Morrisey singing There Is a Light That Never Goes Out
White Stripes covering Wait by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
White Stripes looking completely wasted
The Others
The stage invasion at the end of The Others set
Radio 4
Crowd taking over singing Basket Case
Green Day covering We Are The Champions
Laughed when I heard that The Rasmus got bottled off stage after 1 song, yet got really annoyed at the crowds reaction to 50 Cents (not that I like his stuff, so go figure). Also fed up with fans of the next act turning up half way through the previous acts set and then making a general nuisance of themselves (Dizzee Rascal's fans were the worst for this)
Spent the next two days in bed not moving...

Oi! I was wearing nice shoes and a mini skirt. I would have been beaten up by grungy teenagers if I wasn't stageside, lol. Also forgot to mention when I went to one of the backstage loos a couple were shagging in the cubicle next to me. Put me right off my buisness
