Yeah! Gotta hand it to the sky previews, they had me believing that last night would be the episode with JM which was why I posted.
However, last nights episode was highlighted by Tyr's wit and sarcasm

Ive always said that Tyr is one of the best characters on the show and Dylan by far the worst.

My problem with Dylan is Kevin Sorbo is basically playing the same character(without as much humour) as in Hercules even the second seasons titles bring back memories of the show.
Anyway it was nice to see Rhade back in the show for an episode I always enjoy the flashbacks with him and Dylan.
Andromeda. Pants. No question. On a par with mutant x in that you can watch it, but you will never care about it.
Well, we had to disagree on something

I love it - I'm really only just getting into the whole thing, and I know it had a dodgy first season, but I like a lot of the background story. It really grabbed me after the indications that there was so much more to Trance than we were seeing...
Even Dylan is growing on me. He ain't Hercules, that's for sure
I started watching Drom when I found out James Marsters was going to feature in an ep, caught the season 1 finale, and almost all of what Sky showed of season 2 pre-hiatus. I'm now watching the beginning of season 1 on channel 4 (currently no Sky), and for a show that was obviously just finding its feet, I must say I'm really enjoying it.
I feel the same way about Dylan that I do about Buffy most of the time - yeah, main character and all, but not the one I have most sympathy with.
Trance gets very varied reactions out of me. The character is very obviously a child by her species standards - the over-exhuberance reminds me of a hyperactive toddler (*bleagh*) and so irritates me, but the returning back to life after Gerentex shot her in the first episode, her 'lucky guess' at the one world in 360-odd that Dylan & Rommie were trapped on, and a few other little things here and there imply that there is definately something odd about this purple, tailed creature.
Beka I love - strong, attractive woman, runs her own spaceship, who wouldn't want to be her?
Tyr - I adore and lust after! Keith Hamilton Cobb is definately the best actor on set (shamefully wasted at times) and such a hunk of manly goodness! Remember all the 'God Bless the Little White Vest' threads on Buffy UK? Can we hear it for whoever put KHC in a chainmail vest & leather trousers?! But Tyr, well let's just say there's a lot of interesting stuff gonna happen there...
Rev Bem - the 'Yoda' of the bunch, always turning up with the right thought-provoking coments, the little orange furry guy with the family you *really* wouldn't want to meet at a picnic - unless you fancied being eaten alive by Magog larvae as they hatch in your stomach. Nice. But he's the one that Got Religion. Nice bloke.
Seamus Harper - human with 'an upgrade', Rommie's engineer and all round Mr Fix-it. Slightly off the wall sense of humour, very off the wall taste in shirts, kind of Xander figure with a huge crush on the unattainable:
Rommie - An AI and the ship's 'avatar'. Hand-made by Harper (and I'm betting he had a whale of a time picking just the right skin tones...), the supercool computer ignores Harper's crush, because she has her own - she fancies the pants off Dylan Hunt. Who says AI's don't have feelings?
What? Do I know too much? Do I rib you about your obsessions? Well maybe, but still, *stands up* "My name is RedWitch, and I'm an Andromeda Fan."

I have to agree with this. I don't find Buffy a very rounded character and admittedly Dylan is just there to say the final piece or to remind the others that its *his ship* I like the character combos in the same way that I like the complete cast of Farscape - each one has its good and bad moments

Also I've never watched Hercules, sure I've seen pictures and clips of Kevin Sorbo as Hercules, but I've never watched it so I don't have the preconceptions of Dylan = a space aged Hercules
Well hell yeah ! *high fives RedWitch* for every man that likes his scifi women, I'm a woman that likes my scifi man ... be it Angel, Crichton, Brennan, McCloud, Vaughan, Alec, Logan, Zach, Jackson, O'Neill or Teal'c (yeah who can be fussy with Stargate ) I'm a Tyr fan .. the chainmail vest .. ooh yeah *insert scrummy smilie here*

Here Here I like different scifi for different reasons - so not all of it is full of wonderful storylines but you travel with the good and bad and make a full story of it

Like I said, Andromeda is not something I care about. However, the stories do tend to be interesting and The season finale was extremely well worked. Also the special effects are of quite good quality. However, the writing is poor and it also rips off every other space show around. Hardly things that work in its favour.
Once again, on the whole, Pants is the word for it. It reminds me of certain games on the PC. Good in places but rubbish most others.

I watched this for the second time last night (first time, first episode, switched off, never went back), to see James Marsters.
Wasn't really entertained, just not my cup of tea, sorry, and that Harper guy *really* irritated me throughout.
But it was interesting watching 'Spike'. I found his voice fascinating. To me, he sounded like an English man trying to do an American accent. I think maybe some of the English is starting to stick with him. There were definitely words that came straight from the mouth of Spike last night.
