Huh, just managed to get my posting thing sorted out! Kind of saw the whole grown up Connor thing happening, cause of time being different in hell, and a similar thing happening in a comic series I read. Just thought C would be about 18. Very good, but not as good as Buffy, which I won't comment on until I see the first half thart I missed on Saturday.
Angel Season 3: Episode 20: A New World
An improvement on last weeks episode?
First of all, i didn't see the entire episode, and haven't had time to watch what i've taped, but from what i've seen, the episode was about Angel trying to connect with Connor/Stephen.
Lilah visited Wesley.. only bad stuff can happen there!!.. noooooo Wes!!!!....
I liked the scenes between Angel and his son.. checking for signs of drug abuse, so very paternal.. but i liked it when they fought together side by side.. and did anyone else get a little shiver when Connor put on that leather jacket, the one very much like his dad wears??.. i know i did...
And at the end, a very old, wizened looking Holtz appeared..
An improvement on last week's episode i felt..
Thoughts???

Sadly, the only thing that really sticks out in my mind about this episode was the total overuse of slow motion. It was driving me mad!
Otherwise, not much held my attention this week.

Watched it...thought it was all too obvious and just not that great...the series seems caught in a rut at the moment...hopefully it'll pick up for the finale.
Thought it was a good episode.
Liked the way Conner jumped onto that bus.
There were a lot of fight scenes.
Wasn't surprised that Conner thought Holtz was his father and had followed him through the hell dimension.

I totally agree. After the atrocious Buffy, the use of tacky slow motion made me turn off, I was in too bad a mood to watch it, but saw the video today. I liekd Connor, not a terrible child actor, unlike Annie in Episode I

Oh, I loved Lilah and Wesley. They should dates
Sick of Angel's "he's my son". Someone REALLY needs to tell him to get over himself. Really, right now, not liking Angel... or Spike, maybe I'm anit-vamyre thing??? Who knows
Dear oh dear. After the superb run from 'Waiting in the Wings' all the way through to 'Forgiving', it looks as though Angel is failing to deliver at the end. Again.
The real problem I have with this episode is basically that at no time did I care about Connor in the slightest. Some people seem to think that he and Angel had chemistry, but their scenes together did absolutely nothing for me. Since there was very little else in the ep, that kinda ruined it..
The Wes/Lilah stuff was good, but it felt like this was the obligatory Wes scene, and it didn't really have anything to do with the rest of the episode. And no way is he going to work for Wolfram & Hart. The groups continuing refusal to even talk to Wesley is really beginning to grate, which leads me onto the real shock...
Bizarrely, my favourite character in this ep was the Groosalug. Mainly because he says "Yes, we must always consider Angel. Angel is our leader. We must obey his wishes." in a deadpan sarcastic kind of way, and it's a very good point. If Fred, or Cordy, or anyone else wants to go to see Wesley in their own time, there's no reason why Angel even has to know about it. Sure, Angel was the wronged party, but Wes was their friend, and I don't think any of them believe he's beyond forgiveness. If his isolation continues, maybe he really will do something else he'll regret. I also thought Groos gradual realisation that Cordy cares more about Angel than him was very touching, and well played by Mark Lutz.
And yeah, the slow-mo was way overused.

It's like Joss can't afford "bullet time" so he uses regular slow motion
Not once have I liked this whole Connor thing. Joss is losing it, I think he's spreading himself too thin, over too many shows. Angel has gone from being a great "detective show, with supernatural elements" to a parody of soap opera

It hasn't really been a detective show since somewhere around the end of Season 1 though, funnily enough about the same time it really took off with the Faith eps. And really not seeing any aspects of soap opera in there..
