West Wing - Dead Irish Poets (episode 15)
Wow, oh wow, oh wow! This was bloody good, it really was. Abby (Stockard Channing) was celebrating her birthday, while worrying about the beginning of her trial involving illegal medical practice. What works really well in West Wing is really big issues, which are used as a cataylst for other, less huge things, which is what happened tonight. Abby was great, she acted wonderfully, subtlely and you could honestly believe she came to the end decision. The way she said it to the POTUS was also really well done.
I liked the directing, it was toned down, no cheesey patriotic music but it was very well co-ordinated. Donna also impressed me, though she SSSOOOOO over-stepped the line. I know it helped Abby come to her decision, but even tipsey, no-one's that stupid.
Sam (yawn) and old proffesseur dude was good, but again, geez, sort out priorities in politics. "Please do this!"
"No!"
"I'm dieing"
"Oh well then, as long as you give a good political reason" They do stuff for poncey, arty, liberal reasons. Like with the Stockhouse Fillibuster, wouldn't raise a finger, realise his grand-son was ill, they all rush about to help. Grrrrr.... only flaw in episode!
Josh and new girl (Mary Louise Parker) were not bad, though he forgave her over a very bad thing, which implied it was a good thing she did. NO IT WASN'T!!!!!!! Interfering busy body! It has nothing to do with you OR Abby! F*** off!
Overall ****1/2 (four and a half stars)
