Taken

Just started seeing these trailers on BBC2 for this Steven Spielberg series and wondered if anybody knew much about it? The ads themselves look intriguing but I've been caught out like that before. Is this some cross between Roswell and The X Files? What have reviews been like?

I know I haven't got satellite or cable at the moment but I haven't heard anything of this show which makes me wonder whether the Beeb have picked up another dud that has, once again, been cancelled in the States.

I know I could quite easily find htis out myself but a) I'm lazy and b) I'm trying to start some debate on a new series here peeps!!

Edit Although, judging but Mark Kermode's reaction to it on Newsnight, it sucks big chunks!! LOL!

It was a mini-series, so it hasn't been cancelled, there were just ten episodes of it. The official website is here.

Haven't seen it myself, from what I've heard it started off pretty well, but tailed off somewhat. Still, might be worth checking out.

Nope hon, not yet, BBC2 actually got something before sky did *faints*

Ooh, just found it on digiguide, it starts *TOMORROW* (Saturday 11th) on BBC2 at 9pm, with a repeat on the 17th at 11:35pm

Yeah, but part 1 is on at 9pm on BBC2 but part 2 is (on straight after) on BBC Choice

How evil is that? If you don't have sky/digital, you can only see half of it? No fair...

They did the same thing with 24. Presumably the 2nd part will be on BBC2 next week.

Just watched it on BBC2 (and the 2nd part on Choice, because I have no patience), and am actually getting into it. Hadn't heard much about it and, I have to say, you guys didn't really get my hopes up with what's been said, but sometimes it's better to go in with low expectations.

Part two was better than the first, but now I have 2 weeks to wait for more!

Very, very slow-moving. I'm not sure I can summon the will to watch the next 9 episodes..

Ah, cool.

I'll make sure I settle down to that with a beer on Friday then. It still looks like something I'm willing to give a go despite the mixed reviews. Although, from the trailers I've seen, I'm not sure about some of the CGI. The aliens look a bit 'fake' for want of a better word. I seem to remember someone saying that something similar about some of the effects in the later seasons of Buffy.

That said, I can live with that as long as the storyline is okay. And I don't mind if it's slow if it's building towards something good. And, if it's spread out over nine eps, then I guess the first few eps will be slow in places to establish characterisation.

Still, I'll have a better idea when I've actually get round to watching it.

well I have to say that so far I am loving this programme

The way the stories are blending together is excellent, and its been really well acted too. Its just a shame that BBC2 love shunting this stuff aside whenever the ruddy snooker is one
