I know what you mean Wo, I was a huge B5 mark but i started losing interest after the Shadow war a little, the whole Battle With Earth thing was quite good and then it went rapidly downhill...watching series 1 always makes me laugh when you see De'lenns dodgy make up and Sinclairs dodgy acting but I think knowing the outcome of the storys takes somehing away from the show.

Has anyone else seen the Legend of the Rangers Pilot?

Some good ideas, and some bad ones.

Shows some promise (much more than Crusade) so I hope it is developed into a full show.

No i havent, but i hear the ratings werent good, so the chances are low of a full series. As much as i loved B5 at its best, i cant help feeling that revisiting the universe will only be a pale imitation and it should just rest as a really good unique body of work.

On a lighter note, anyone optimistic about JMS' new show Jeremiah? The concept isnt exaclty new (what the hell its downright cliche) and i dont care for the actor much, but i have a feeling it could click.

Mind you Andromeda is the highest rating drama in syndication so anythings possible...

Interesting, I heard the opposite. It was supposed to have done pretty well for a cable-only broadcast. As I understood it, Sci-fi were/are all up for doing a series and reviving Crusade.

For the record, I've been a B5 fan since day one, and I'm a founder member of the Couro Prido (Lord Refa at your service, - most of the Centauri that show up at UK conventions are members, especially if they're hosting a party!). Although there were bad episodes, it was generally one of the best shows around, and only Buffy and FarScape top it as far as I'm concerned. Yes, sections of the 5th season were dire and I still cringe when I hear the phrase "get the hell out of our galaxy!" but the arc-plot was revolutionary.

Crusade is a lot better than it got credit for - I rewatched it recently, and there are only actually two naff episodes out of thirteen. It would have settled quite well after a half-season or so. To see it get cancelled so early, when Trek shows get three seasons no questions asked, really bugged me!

I haven't seen LotR yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I used to love B5

I think it was at it's best before the 5th season like everyone else, but as I understand it, this was due to it being cancleed then revived half way through the season or something? So the plots got tied up too soon then reopened then tied up again?!?!?

But I'm still tempted to go out and by all 5 seasons on VHS sooner or later, even if it's from ebay

I can't be described as an avid watcher as B5 because when it clashed with other shows I wanted to watch I usually opted for the other shows. Although I did make an effort to catch re-runs when I knew they were on. I loved the ideas in the show & also watched all the B5 movies.

I have seen Legend of the Rangers & I thoroughly enjoyed it

I used to watch Crusade (Mmmm Gary Cole ) & I was sad when it was cancelled. I thought it was a good plot idea with the time limit & saving Earth.

Aeryn and I just sat down to start watching it all through from the start again last night. Should be interesting - first time for her, and about the fourth or fifth for me!

B5 was brilliant!!

Best space battles ever shown on TV

Series 5 was very obviously tagged on, but the final episode was brilliant.

I also really enjoyed the fact that objects in space acted like objects in space.
Like when the Star Furies turn on their axis, but continue in the same direction due to momentum......unlike - well just about any other sci-fi movie of show, where spacecraft all act like they're in an atmosphere...

Yep I thought it was very cool how the Space battles were definately Sci-Fi whereas things like Star Wars seemed very much Sci-Fi.

I think that was mainly due to the JPL's influence there. (JPL is of course the Jet Propulsion Laboratory who have a lot to do with rockets and NASA)

Hubby watched this religiously and has all the videos. I caught some and the Shadow War dragged me in. That was really cool but ewww, giant flying spiders!!

One of the best moments for me, real tingle down the spine stuff, was Delenns speech when flying in to save the station from the Shadow attack.

"Only one man has ever survived an attack by the Minbari. He is behind me, you are infront of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else!"




And the interaction between G'Kar and Londo was always superb.
