**Previously on Angel flashbacks...** then we see Angel reaction to seeing Connor and Cordy "together" by.. demolishing several buildings by the sound of it...
Fred is happy to see that Gunn is alive and well. Angel also returns, injured, but obviously very down and dejected. He heads up to his room, to brood, what else..
Cordelia wakes up from her night of naughtiness with Connor (still a major yikes even in the flashbacks! ) and like the rest of us, realises that sleeping with him really wasn't a good idea.. like.. d'uh!!!!. As you'd expect Connor doesn't take this information very well and storms off in a huff, to see if there is a connection between himself, the Beast etc, considering it did rise from the very spot he was born!.
Lilah checks on Wesley, who then proceeds to dump her, deciding once and for all that his duty is with Angel Investigations... hurrah!!! Lilah doesn't take that well either.
Cordelia returns to the hotel, and Angel, understandably is very cool with her. She tells Angel that Connor blames himself for all the heck that's broken loose and the Beast's arrival.
Connor arrives at W&H demanding answers, and when Lilah trips a silent alarm which brings a couple of security guards, he swiftly deals with them as his father would. Then the building begins to shake and the lights go out.
Bodies are littered everywhere as the Beast slaughters anything in it's path. Including Gavin.. yay!!!
The Beast then goes after Lilah and sticks it's finger into her abdomen.. charming!.. Connor attacks the Beast, who just shrugs him off and in the ensuing chaos, Lilah makes her escape and bumps into Wes. She tells him of an escape route in a janitor's closet, which leads them to the sewer. Wesley tells Lilah to get herself patched up, change her name and get the hell out of Dodge. Then Lilah tells Wes that Connor is trapped in the building.
Wes then heads back to the hotel and tells Angel where Connor is. Angel then tells the team that they're going in to retrieve his son. But he doesn't want Cordelia there. He tells her it's too dangerous, but drags Fred along for the ride anyway.
They get into the building via the "emergency exit" and proceed to search for the boy. That's when the zombies begin to rise. I liked the repartee between father and son when Connor asks Angel what a zombie is, Angel says that they're "slow, dimwitted things that crave human flesh" to which Connor replies "like you"
The zombies in their indeterminable numbers attack and the only way for the team to escape is via the White Room which we saw in the last season when Angel attempted to get Connor back. And who do they see there, but the Beast, draining the black energy from the little girl. Just as it approaches the team, and they prepare themselves for battle yet again, the little girl summons up the last of her strength and sends them.... home.
Angel's face changed when he came face to face with Cordelia again, all the memories and anguish and hurt from the previous night returned with a vengeance and he broods again. Must admit, i liked it when he told her "now take your new boyfriend and get the hell out of here" and the look on her face when she realised that he knew what had happened
And another thought occurred to me, though i haven't seen the film for a long while, is anyone else reminded of Tim Curry's beastie like make up from "Legend" when they see the make up of the season four Big Bad??.. (apart from it not being red)
A decent episode, not as exciting as last week's, but it was watchable
I thought it was a cool episode. It was interesting to realise afterwards, that in that bit where Gavin was caught and killed byt the Beast, he was actually trying to escape in that room with all the toilet rolls! I was thinking what the hell is he doing?!
And then I found out later, when Lilah and Wes went to that room to escape. Sorry, it just amused me
Ferretgirl Make something idiot-proof and they will make a better idiot
Liked this episode, more than Buffy. This big bad is interesting although having the evil thing from W&H save the gang was a bit lame. But things are shaping up for this big evil thing, and i wonder what's gonna happen with the Cordy-Angel-Conner love "sick" triangle
