I've been watching. I think getting Daniel back and getting rid of Quinn at the same time was a bit heavy handed. I might have been fun to watch a bit of conflict between the two.
StarGate.....
Is anyone out there watching the new series?
I've watched every eps so far and must say I am really enjoying haveing Daniel back ... mmmmmmmdaniel
Must admit I found this weeks ep brilliant and also very emotional, great acting and good idea
So am I alone in being a stargate fan??

I have to say I agree, and although both actors say there was no hard feelings I can't help but think you would get a bit peeved if you left as an old actor returned ( maybe it's just me lol )
And hey well at least that makes two fans here then Vinnie

I like Stargate SG1 but unfortunatley being B&B boy just now means no access to SKY which means crappy tv
I have to agreed, I didn't particularly want there to be any conflict as such between the two characters, I do believe that both could have worked side by side for close to half a season.

Jonas's departure was a bit swift and not thought through very well in my opinion, it was like - ah ok we can't kill him so we'll just send him home quick smartish with a pardon for nicking naquita.
I was really starting to enjoy the Jonas character and felt he was bypassed very quickly to accommodate Michael Shanks return.
This weeks episode with the multi personalities seemed to scream out "look I can adapt the character, I can act"
I do like the character of Daniel, I guess I just don't want to see him back and overcasting the other characters. Need to see more wisecracking Jack (I can almost guess his sarcastic responses this season - he must be slipping )
I think the show is definatly missing RDA who is taking a lot of time off at the moment and to be honest it shows, personally I think this season has been pretty tame up to now and needs improvement.

Gotta admit that I was starting to get sick of the sight of Daniel by about the fourth ep in- I was like "Okay, we know he's back, can we have some team eps, and maybe a decent Carter one?" It certainly was a little unfair the way Jonas was hustled out of things so quickly.
"Enemy Mine"- the episode with the Unas negotiations in it etc was awful, absolutely terrible- I've never actually gotten bored before when watching Stargate, but it was so dull!I actually think the lack of O'Neill could be part of that problem... usually Jack would be hustling Danny along with his sarcky comments.
The first Teal'c ep, "Orpheus" was a bit slow moving too, seems to me it was possibly thrown in there because someone thought "oops! we need an ep about Teal'c!"
However I was impressed with "Fragile Balance" where O'Neill got turned into a kid.. the lad they got to play the part was superb.
Faves so far have been "Space Race" and "Avenger 2.0"- okay, so I'm a great big Carter fan, lol. Seeing the usually so reserved Major get all uncharacteristically gung-ho and keen when a high speed race was mentioned was highly entertaining- ach well, we all known she's an adrenaline junkie, what with the motorbikes and all.
Thought "Evolution" parts one and two were very good too... even if the dissection bit was extremely reminiscent of the movie "Independance Day"... and where the heck did Carters bruises go?? I'm sorry, but anybody getting hit that hard across the side of the head should have a stonking black eye, lol. However, I found myself saying "Oh good grief....." when we saw how many of those invincible things there were.
I see SG-1 season 7 has now vanished from Monday nights on Sky One.. does anybody know when it'll be returning?
Can't wait.

Update- it seems Sky One are doing their usual choppy-changey thing with the listings.
The next episode of season seven, "Grace", a Carter based ep, is now showing tomorrow night, that's Tuesday the 6th of January, on Sky One, not on the 13th as was previously advertised.
Don't miss it, this one has had cracking reveiws.

I've always liked Stargate when i've manged to catch the occasional episode, but due to bad scehduling I've never managed to watch any in chronological order. 7 seasons is ALOT to try and catch up on!!!
Have you heard about Stargate Atlantis... apparently its going to run alongside SG1 season 8.

Anyone else see "Grace" last week?
I thought the ep was great- certainly seemed to lay to rest a lot of Carter's demons. The oÂnly critism I have is that the storyline was a little unoriginal- very Star Trek, however the emotional journey Carter went through definately made it Stargate's own. Though was it just me, or did the alien ship have serious overtones of "Ferengi Marauder" about it? lol.
Now, thoughts about the little girl..... maybe the whole "bubbles" thing was a way of showing Carter that sometimes you have to just chill out and be a big kid? Hopefully we'll see a bit of Sam breaking out and enjoying herself instead of overanalysing things, at least that's what I reckon it was trying to denote, anyway.
Amanda Tapping's acting was superb as always, especially the scene with Jacob. That was heartbreaking. That said, I thought the stuff with O'Neill seemed a little forced. Could be that it's simply a side effect of RDA being kinda part time this season, maybe. Think I need to watch it again, lol.
Can't wait to see the rest of S7!
So, comments, opinions?

A good episode certainly, and your right about the character advancement issue, and the Ferengi thing, but when the hell did they get the Prometheus (couldn't they have thought of an original name?), last i knew they were still struggl;ing to get a working two man craft. One last thing, the most Star Trekky thing was they shear indiiference to the aliens, sure when you've got god knows how many species knocking around what's one more, but with only what 4 or 5 known species, you'd think they'd get excited.
The Prometheus was introduced in the Season six ep of the same name- As for the name, that was the codeword for the project, and nobody seems to have come up with a better one.... O'Neill tried to suggest a name, resulting in a rather amusing exchange between him and Carter in the episode following "Prometheus" which was called "Unnatural Selection"....
O'NEILL: They didn't go for it.
CARTER: They didn't approve the mission?
O'NEILL: Oh no, they did that. Once they knew the stakes and the fate of the universe stuff. Both the President and Hammond realised we had no choice. He sends good luck, godspeed and all those things he says when he thinks we're gonna die.
CARTER: So what didn't they go for?
O'NEILL: The name I suggested.
CARTER: For the ship?
O'NEILL: Yeah.
CARTER: Sir, we can't call it the Enterprise.
O'NEILL: Why not?
CARTER: The codename for the project is Prometheus. What's wrong with that?
O'NEILL: It's a Greek tragedy. Who wants that?
So there ya go, the good Colonel agrees that the name is lame, LOL. Maybe they're setting these new bad guys up for Stargate: Atlantis. I guess the crew of the Prometheus were a bit too busy worrying about being blown to atoms to panic too much about who was doing the firing... reckon that's going to be explored further on in the season... at least I hope so.

lol I can just imagine O'Neil suggesting the name Enterprise.
But to be picky if the project was called Prometheus (which it wouldn't) then the ship wouldn't be, project names are allways designed to give no clue whatsoever about the project, so it would be called project tree, or lemming etc.

Why wouldn't the project be called Prometheus? After all, he was a figure from Greek mythology, so wouldn't really give any clue to an outsider of the actual project's nature.
Prometheus was the son of Iapetus who was one of the Titans. He tricked the gods into eating bare bones instead of good meat. He stole the sacred fire from Zeus and the gods. Prometheus didn't tell Zeus the prophecy that one of Zeus's sons will overthrow him, so in punishment, Zeus commanded that Prometheus be chained for eternity in the Caucasus. There, an eagle (or, according to other sources, a vulture) would eat his liver, and each day the liver would be renewed. So the punishment was endless, until Hercules finally killed the bird.
So I guess the metaphorical connection is there, in that they're stealing fire from th gods in that they've nicked goa'uld technology to build the ship, but unless someone knew all about the Goa'uld, and everything else, they wouldn't be able to make the connection. The actual designation for the Prometheus is the X-303, so seems to be that the name Prometheus is just being used as a working title. Plus, it's only telly, so they can do what they want, lol.
