moi but then again i'm a great big x files nerd!
X-files
Is anybody here collecting the x-files dvds? I haven't been, but I was buying dvds the other day and I got the season 8 one that came out last week. So now I guess I have to buy the rest of them, I'll probably get one every once and a while until i have them all. I miss the x-files, it's never on tv here anymore, I can't wait to be able to watch any of the episodes whenever I want. What one do you guys think I should get next, do they all have as much special features as this one? I love the game on it. What did you guys think of it? I thought season 8 was a pretty sweet season.

I've only got the first three seasons on DVD at the minute. They all have some special features though - deleted scenes, special effects scenes etc. May be many months before I have the money to get up to season 8. I was always a fan - before it got big and everyone started watching it.
I was too I can remember watching it when no one else kne what it was.
by charm

I don't actually remember it not being famous. I thought it was pretty big right from the off. Certainly everyone at my school seemed to be talking about it. Maybe we were ahead of the times in Wales...
I've always had respect for the X-Files, but I've never loved it. I watched the first couple of series and thought that it was good, but also a little bit dull. It's the sort of thing that if I watch it I will enjoy it, but for some reason I never really feel like watching it. As such I've not seen any of it from the third series on (apart from odd episodes that I've seen cos my dad and sister were big fans). I *think* I enjoyed the film when it was on TV though...

I initially adored the X-Files, it appeared when I was at the peak of my Call of Cthulhu phase and immediately feel in love with the whole conspiracy/horror/weird stuff feel. Hell, I saw my first episodes before Sky started showing it - a friend had US tapes she was showing at a fan gathering! I even chose the first airsoft pistol I ever bought because it was listed as one of the guns used on the series...
Alas, Chris Carter's attempts to bolt a story arc on to it (I can still recall reading early interviews where he said it was just an episodic show, followed a short while later by him saying he knew how it'd end at the of the *5th* season) caused the series to gradually collapse under the weight of its own convoluted and increasingly inconsistent mythology. By the end, I no longer cared if I forgot to set the video.
I must say though that Doggett's arrival did shake up the dynamics wonderfully and temporarily gave the programme a much-needed kick up the backside.
Ultimately, though, it is a series I still love (Scully is probably still my all-time top fantasy babe after all this time) but primarily for the early years. I have the first three seasons on DVD but am wondering how far I'll carry on though.

sometimes SKY ONE shows it during the mornings after buffy and angel
I was a MASSIVE fan from day one I used to kick my parents out of the house so I could watch it in peace X-files was my number one show before Buffy(then they became joint first after that) but kinda lost my avid loyalty when they got rid of Mulder and brought that Doggett dude in, though I can watch it now it's finished.
I had started to collect the dvd's around the time they were first released but got bored of it pretty quick and gave them away (this was before i knew of eBay ) I find i enjoy them SO much more when I catch them being shown on telly.
