Smallville Season 3: Ep 1: Exile
Am i the only one who saw this tonight?...
Must admit i loved Bad Clark... and the longer hair... a friend told me not to miss this episode under any circumstances and i totally got why...
Michael Rosenbaum was totally outstanding as always.. it was a very clever twist that the companion on the island turned out to be a figment of his imagination
And boo hiss at Helen... can't wait to get to the bottom of that particular story.
And has Jonathan Kent got some superpowers?.. the ending had me open-mouthed... looking forward to the next episode.
Incidentally, if you missed it, it's repeated on Sunday on E4.

Yup, I saw this last night as well. Very interesting plot twist giving Jonathan Kent the same powers to enable him to bring Clark home. Obviously, these are at some, yet to be disclosed, personal cost to himself.
It's great to see Helen Bryce as the baddie. The viewer learnt to like her so we feel something of the pain that Lex will later once he accepts her betrayal. We've already seen Lex's dark side in the first two seasons. Now his enforced exile because of his wife's murderous actions will, presumably, help push him further over the edge of the abyss of mistrust and paranoia.
Clark's dabble with the dark side is his personal journey to who he will become. How can you begin to understand, and fight the forces of evil, if you, yourself, haven't tasted it? All very much borrowed from other works of fiction, especially Superman III, but good to see nonetheless. I'm glad to see from the trailers from next week's episode that this isn't going to be resolved quickly but over a few eps instead.
Other points:
1) Lana is looking as lush as ever
2) Chloe is portraying the spurned woman well.
3) Lionel is continuing to be one of the show's best characters.
Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Am i the only one who finds Lana just the slightest bit irritating?. There's just something about her, a sweetness i think, while not a bad thing, just rubs me the wrong way. The way she told Chloe that maybe Clark hadn't been found by the right person/ was waiting for the right person to find him... (can't remember off the top of my head which one). I loved the confrontation between Chloe and Clark too. Someone pointed out to me that at the moment bad Clark ( or maybe we should call him Kal) is playing along with Lana, whereas with Chloe he doesn't. I have to admit, i much prefer Chloe's character to Lana's.
And for the first time i found myself rooting for Lionel in finding out the truth of what happened to Lex.

I don't know anyone who DOESN'T find her irritating. On the "Television Without Pity" website--which I visit from time to time and find totally hilarious--it seems that almost all the posters on the Smallville forum can't stand her.

I loved Chloe's new haircut.
How funny was the pre-credit sequence with Clark running into phonebox to tear open his shirt and reveal the superman symbol on his chest. Someone had fun choreographing that scene.
MmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmLex with no shirt (and almost no pants at one point) How sexy is that man!
I really enjoyed the idea of Jor El and Jonathan having a conversation. I wonder if this 'superpower' thing of Jonathans is a one off thing of if he'll have any other side effects from it.
What was in the box? And why did Rutger Hauer want it so much? And whats with Helen? I *really* want to know what her motivations are. Can't wait for next week's episode.

I think i know what's in the box... there's a clue in the trailer for next week's ep (i think if i'm right)
And i'm glad i'm not the only one who feels that way about Lana. A definite saccharine overdose. I agree, Chloe is much better. She doesn't take any <bleep> from Clark and he knows it which is why i think he's doesn't play her in "Exile" like he seemed to be with Lana. Could you imagine her reaction if Clark blew up at her like he did with Chloe?... And i did like Chloe's new 'do also.
And Clark in black. A thought occurred to me. With Angelus we get the black leather pants (oh how i miss those! ) so with Kal (Bad Clark) are we going to get black clothes. Tom Welling just looked amazing all through the episode, absolutely gorgeous <drool>
