Was Spike dubbed in some bits of this episode? It was really peculiar, like they decided his accent wasn't bad enough so they dubbed over it with and even worse one..... Sometimes it was fine, but especially when they were in the 'showroom', it got really odd.

Well i enjoyed watching Spike in this ep. He and David were bouncing off each other script wise and i thought some of his one liners were rather funny, ie calling Angel "Captain Forehead"
The necromancer was suitable eerie and i liked the way he could control the dead. I really thought that when Angel was strapped to table and he was rummaging around inside of him, that his demon would attack or something like that, or we'd see a touch of Angelus come through, but no joy. But Spike saying "b******s" when he faded out and then again once Angel had decapitated the necromancer and we saw Spike's head were pretty funny too.
Not enough Wesley, barely enough Fred or Gunn and Harmony was amusing, though i'm hoping they don't go basically for a Vamp-Cordy replacement, because there'd be no one to replace Cordelia in that respect.
But it was a cool episode.

Yea noticed that myself. Thought I was going mad, so any ideas why Spike (the Blondie Bar) was dubbed???!!!!!
There was an occasion during S4 Buffy where a similar thing happened with Tony Head. He'd had a cold, or something similar during filming, and his voice didn't come out well. So, during editing, he read the particular section agian and it was dubbed over. However, it did make it sound very odd when watching it.
Maybe this was a similar thing.

Having made the mistake of watching this on a vcd because I missed the ep on Tuessday, *most* of what I watched was out of synch anyway Anyone know if its repeated on sky ?

I laughed at all the same bits Keeny did. Spike who went downhill for me during the last few seasons of Buffy, became extremely fresh for me again. He was witty at all the right moments, predictably funny during the car-jumping scenes.
I thought the episode was great for a second ep as its still all about learning titbits from each character and reassessing them in their current surroundings. There was enough of each character to keep them in the background.

I have to say though, that I would really hate to see a Cordy replacement. Her character peaked and I don't think there'd be much to pull that freshness back. Judging by these 2 episodes, it would be nice NOT to. I started getting into the character of Connor after a while, but then the end of season 4 went very *wonky* for me.
Its nice to be back with a set of characters that you shouldn't have to go to extremes with. Hopefully they won't adjust this format too much during this season
It's repeated on Saturdays, 11pm

Enjoyable episode, Spike kicking up an epic pain in the Angelic arse is always good stuff. The necromancer was one seriously creepy geezer, it's a shame he went and joined his clients, I'd have liked to see him again. I did find the ghost plot very annoying after a while, but it worked well in "Just Rewards", and at least sets up Spike's comment after Angel slices and dices the necromancer.
So okay introduction to Captain Peroxide, but the best is yet to come.
