For a directorial debut, David did a pretty good job i thought
I liked this episode a lot. I'd read somewhere that this episode was a "Numero Cinquo ep deal", you either really loved it or hated it. I went with the former.
You'll have noticed that David was either sitting or lying down a lot in this episode as he was recovering from his knee surgery.
Lindsey and the original Doyle have met and it puzzled me why Spike didn't remember that, but saying that, it was a brief meeting, so there's every chance that he wouldn't remember. I wasn't sure whether Lindsay's visions were genuine or not. And i don't like the idea of Spike posturing as a champion worthy of Angel. If he were to be shansu'd over the one heroic thing (the Buffy finale) then it would be a con... Angel's heroism comes from lots of acts of heroism, he has a soul, he is seeking redemption, he is suffering for every crime that he's committed as Angelus, Spike usually doesn't do anything unless there's something in it for him. Selfless he ain't. Though it was a hoot when he scolded the girl he'd rescued for wearing inappropriate shoes
The one scene that affected me most was when the team were applauding Spike for stopping the apocalypse and poor Angel is standing in the background. Then you see a shot of him wearing that short sleeved shirt and tie ensemble. He looks down at what he's wearing, then slowly, dejectedly he turns and begins to push the mail cart.
Those parasites were horrible, and it was kind of cheesy when Eve appeared with the box holding the larger parasite and she told Angel he was still dreaming...because Angel had ripped off the smaller parasite and it was obvious that he wasn't dreaming... but guessing because she hadn't changed her earrings was a tad lame... i either couldn't see (or probably just didn't notice) the earrings. And i'm wondering whether Lindsay's "vision" and Spike saving Angel from the parasite was a double cross on his deal with Eve because Lindsay seems to be working very much to his own agenda which i don't think involves Eve.
