Last week's episode was "Smile Time" and you missed a pretty funny episode in my opinion
It opens with a child watching a kids tv program, similar to Sesame Street. The lead puppet seems to know who the boy is, calling him by his name, calling him to the screen, asking him to touch it. The boy does, is seemingly drained of his life force and his mother finds him on the floor, with a grotesque smile on his face.
Nina the werewolf girl makes a reappearance. It's the full moon phase and she's taken to the cells/dungeons whatever for the three days til the phase has passed. Angel tells Harmony that he's personally taking care of her.
Gunn seems to be suffering from more memory lapses.
Nina seems to be interested in Angel, asking him what he's doing for breakfast. Leaves Angel feeling a little flustered. He talks to Wesley and it seems everyone is aware of how the girl feels about him, except for the man himself.
The team begin the investigation into the child who had lapsed into a coma at the start of the episode. Turns out that several children all in the Southern Californian area have fallen prey to this epidemic. And all were watching a popular kids tv show called "Smiletime".
Angel goes to the studio where the show is filmed. It's deserted. He comes to a door with a sign on it saying "Don't"... well of course Angel does. He goes inside. He sees a man sitting with a towel over his head lit by a single spotlight. There's a sphere behind him. The sphere begins to open, there's a blinding flash and Angel is thrown backwards into a pile of boxes. There's a brief pause and he begins to extricate himself out of the boxes, but instead of a human hand, you see a puppet hand instead. Angel is now a puppet.
Fred, in the lab gets a hysterical call from Angel, that she has to see him immediately. The rest of the team follow her into the office, having gotten similar calls and they see the back of his chair. He turns around and the team all see Puppet Angel. Fred remarks on how cute he looks (and he does) The rest of the team are stunned, and i think, trying not to laugh. Fred touches Angel's hair and he tells her she's fired (but she isn't really)
Cue Nina, after returning to human status, coming to Angel's office to see him and though she can hear him, she can't see him, he's hiding under his desk. Then Spike walks in on him and you can imagine the reaction there. The two fight and Angel leaves a bloodied Spike slumped in the elevator
Lorne and Gunn go to see the PTB at Smiletime. Later we find out that the puppets are all demons.
Angel goes to see Nina in her cell and she sees him as the puppet. Nina transforms and grabs Puppet Angel and badly mauls him. He manages to escape but he has literally had the stuffing knocked out of him and its Lorne to the rescue.
Gunn goes back to the medical team that performed the original upgrade. He finds out that the original imprint is beginning to fade. Gunn wants it renewed but the doctor tells him that it was a one time only deal and he could't afford it. Gunn says he likes being who he is now and demands that he do it. The doctor agrees at a price, telling Gunn that something important is being held up at customs and its up to Gunn to get it through without any problems. We later see Gunn, upgraded and on the ball again.
Fred and Wes watch Smiletime in the lab, trying to discover where the mystical influence is that's causing children to go comatose all over So.Cal. Knox is floating around, but Fred is patently not interested, she only has eyes for Wesley.
They discover how the puppets do it and tell Angel, they also tell him that they can reverse the process and the spell over Angel, returning him to human form. And there's a great scene of the team leaving his office, Puppet Angel at the front, sword slung across his shoulders.
The puppet is trying to influence all the children in the So. Cal region when Team Angel arrives and battle commences. Wes and Fred go to the "Don't" room and start the spell to undo the enchantment affecting the comatose kids and Angel.
And we also get to see Puppet Angel vamp out during the fight scenes. But eventually the spell is broken, the puppets are defeated.
Nina wakes up, naked from her wolfie night and has stuffing in her mouth and she thinks she's ate Angel. He comes into the cell, still in Puppet form and promptly invites her to breakfast.
Fred goes to see Wesley in his office and tells him how she feels about him. They kiss and the episode draws to a close
Hope that helps... you missed a cracker of an episode IMHO
