Davidson was down a notch?!? Was no one watching Colin Baker. Davidson was bloody fantastic in comparison. People get so snobby about Doctor Who its unbelieveable... so many are dismissing the new series before its been written just because it won't be 'classic' Who. As far as I'm concerened it has a great lead actor cast and a fantastic writer and producer who has come up with some of the best British TV of the last decade. It might be pants or it might just be something that proved the Americans don't have the monopoly on genre TV. I'll reserve judgement til i see the results.
As for the rest of it...
Alias is my all time favourite TV show ever!!! I'm so pleased its being renewed
Smallville and Tru Calling have maintained my attention so far and i'll be making an effort to keep on watching these.
I've only recently got into Startgate SG-1 and there's so much i've missed its just seems to much of a mamouth task to catch up. However I'll be watching the new spin off with interest.
Global frequency sounds like it could so easily be done badly... but then again all genre shows sound like that on paper so we'll see.
All in all i don't think that Genre TV is as badly off as people keep claiming it is. All TV shows have a sell by date and too many of them stay on beyond their time. As the title of the recent Angel finale pointed at... its much better to crash out in a blaze of glory while people still love the show and the characters than to fade away into desperate plot lines and declining viewing figures.
