It's not merely a rumour, it's true! This was taken from the Sci-Fi Wire website:-
I think something like this was unavoidable- with RDA's reduced involvement, and the fact that Amanda Tapping is going to be unavailable to start with they needed to introduce other characters or be in danger of SG-1 turning into the "Daniel and Teal'c Show"- Ben Browder should make a good addition... In fact, with his comedic timing he may well do an admirable job of filling the slight humour void that's been evident at times since Richard Dean Anderson started doing less.
The Farscape actors must be seeing it as somewhat ironic that they've been called in to bolster the show that was in part responsible for Farscape's cancellation... bet the wages are better, too!
Okay, I've rambled, but they aren't rumours, they're true!

Not only that, Claudia Black is going to return in a five episode story arc reprising the role of "Vala" from the season eight episode "Prometheus Unbound", which airs on Tuesday night in the UK. This comes from the Gateworld website, and their reports are generally right on the button:-
SCI FI Channel confirmed that Farscape star Ben Browder will join the cast of SCI FI's original series Stargate SG-1. Browder will join the cast in the show's upcoming ninth season; no information on Browder's role was available. Meanwhile, the show's producer, MGM, is still working on a deal to bring back SG-1 star Richard Dean Anderson (Gen. O'Neill) in some capacity.

FRIDAY - DECEMBER 17, 2004
Actress Claudia Black will return to Stargate SG-1 for a 5-episode story arc in Season Nine, GateWorld has learned exclusively from MGM. Black makes her series debut in the upcoming Season Eight episode "Prometheus Unbound," airing January 28 on SCI FI in the U.S. and December 21 on Sky One in the U.K.
Black plays an alien woman named Vala, who sparks a friendly relationship with Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) after she hijacks the Earth ship Prometheus for use by her people, who are trying to escape Baal's rule.
The 32-year-old, Sydney-born actress is best known to science fiction fans as Officer Aeryn Sun on SCI FI's Farscape. She has also appeared in "Pitch Black," "Queen of the Damned," and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
In Season Nine she will join Farscape co-star Ben Browder, who will be a series regular on Stargate. It is possible that Black's recurring appearance on the show will compensate for Amanda Tapping's (Samantha Carter) expected absence or lessened involvement in the new season's first several episodes, following the birth of her child -- though this has not been confirmed.
Season Nine of Stargate SG-1 begins filming in Vancouver in March for a summer premiere on SCI FI. New Season Eight episodes resume on January 21!
