The first series is just such a gem, it seems ridiculous to remake it, however I guess theres enough latitude for a different version.

Would also prove a wise step for Eccleston, who seems to have entered limbo a bit since his Dr Who 'run'.

I'm concerned about this whole idea of making it more accessible. Making it a traditional, penetrable action series is like making a version of The Italisn Job that doesn't include the line "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!".

ahhhh... one of my all-time fave ad-libs.
and this has the potential to be good, IF (and its a big if) they manage to rediscover the inordinately quirky aspects of the original - as with the original dr who, it was quintessentially BRITISH, instead of the standard fare we get from the US.
the big worry here is if they make something that is a bog-standard thriller - thats just going to kill the whole thing.

Hmmm... To be honest I really can't see it working... Though I'm not entirely sure why... Christopher Eccleston is the only thing about it that makes me want to watch, and it's because of him that I hope this turns out to be really good. But I'm not convinced...
