I enjoyed it. The fact it has an ensemble cast gives it places to go that Dr Who doesn't have and imo the 'rip off' comparisons are unfair
Primeval
Saturday 10th February, ITV strike back, against Doctor Who that is.
In an aparently shameless atempt to tap in to the mine of Saturday night family viewing, ITV brings us an adventure romp full of monsters, and an ex-pop star turned actress.
Primeval focuses on Professor Nick Cutter, who investigates portals which seem to be opening allowing long extinct monsters through into present day. However, more Torchwood than Who, Primeval sports a full team of characters, each with their own area of expertise.
On paper a lot makes this show sounds sound cynically constructed, but who knows? The major concern for me is that dinosaurs are SO old hat these days after Jurassic Park and HOW many Walking With type shows?
For the last couple of decades, ITVs track record of home grown scifi has been slightly worse than that of the Beeb before it brought back Dr Who, and thats saying something!
So, let us know, has ITV struck it rich or struck out?

This for me was so so. Nothing like Who really, I haven't really read anything about it so I'm guessing they were comparing it because if the time portal? The CGI was pretty crap IMO, the ickle cute Rex was OK but that giant thing that was trying to eat the boy in his bedroom was laughable.
I'll probably watch it next week, if nothing better comes up.

If we are to assume that it is set present day (music on the stereo, number plate on the car) Then why did the first scene suposedly set 8 years earlier have chip and pin in the supermarket?
i was wondering something along the same lines - like, why were they using signs that were brought in after the walmart takeover a couple of years back??

not that i shopp in there too often, or anything like that...
If we're talking time travel, then anything's possible
I quite like this, I don't get the "dr who" comparisions though, this is more like torchwood only better.
Torchwood always felt like a kids program trying to be an adult.

The mystery of Helen and the anomalies is a bit more engrossing than the Faye thing in 'Ugly Betty', although that wouldn't be too hard.
Incidentally, the theme music is 'All Sparks', by The Editors. Our local paper, The Citizen, calls them a Gloucestershire band, but they're from Birmingham apparently, so that sounds like a stretch...
