Bionic Woman, Journeyman Coming

Of the many genre shows currently producing pilots, only a few will move on to actual series. Early pickups have been granted to two of the crowd.

The Bionic Woman remake was probably the highest profile project, and will at least reach our screens, though given the cutthroat TV business, noone knows for how many episodes.

The second series to graduate is Journeyman, a time travel series which seems to share more than a little with Quantum Leap.

Both are expected to debut in the Autumn, along with Sci-fi's already announced Flash Gordon reimagining.

Pilots still awaiting the 'call' to proceed to full series include the American Life on Mars remake, Terminator spinoff The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and another film to tv property, spy action comedy Mr & Mrs Smith.

Anyone think the imagination level is running particularly low this year?

I agree, the level of imagination is disappointingly low this year. The only show i'm really interested in is Flash Gordon, and that has such a potential for disaster that i'm not too sure about that. I'll try most of the pilots I guess (although there were a couple last year I never did get around to), but it's anyone's guess which, if any, i'll follow.

I'm guessing my Tv schedule will be dominated by the same shows next season as this one. Heroes, Lost, Jericho, all the CSI shows, Smallville (if it's back?). I'm looking forward to Stargate Atlantis returning, and Eureka too, which i really enjoyed before.

CBS have said which new shows they have coming now too.

Moonlight is about a vampire who is also a private detective. Sound familiar?

Cane is about a power Latino family in the rum business. Stars Jimmy Smits.

Laughlin is apparently a musical about a guy who dreams of opening a Nevada casino. Based on 'Blackpool', which was on British tv? IMDB says Hugh Jackman is in this.

Swingtown is about wife-swapping in the swinging 70s.

There's nothing there that gets me excited at all really. All sounds a bit yawn-worthy.

ABC have made some press releases now and it seems that a few of their pilots won't make the jump to full show, including Mr & Mrs Smith and the US versions of Footballer's Wives and Life on Mars.

Edit: CBS have also cancelled Jericho.

Damn, I quite enjoyed the movie of Mr. and Mrs Smith (hey, I wasn't expecting much of it, OK?) and was looking forward to seeing the US Life on Mars, and Jericho has been in my TV-to-watch pile for some time.
