I did find myself wondering, as Kensei's good character went south, if his real name wasn't Adam Monroe, but it didn't seem like a very 17th century sort of name (of course, 'Adam Monroe' didn't have to be his real name, any more than 'Takezo Kensei' was). It was less a matter of great insight than learning from experience. In 'Heroes', if someone can conceivably live for hundreds of years, he probably will. It's in the comic book tradition of throwing everything at the reader, including the kitchen sink.
