I was actually glad of the change in S6, I think the show has changed so much this season and it seems more serious now. I embrace changes!
You even enjoy buffy any more? (Sky One only)
I never thought the day would come, but i have come to the conclusion that Buffy the Vampire slayer is one of the worst programmes on TV at the moment, and i have even found myself skipping it occasionally and just watching Alias and Scrubs on a thursday night instead. I think Buffy really has lost the plot (sky one showing loads of old episodes yesterday shows just how good it *used* to be, and how good it is not now) and i believe that they should have just kept her dead.
Angel actually has a plot arc, whereas Buffy just has... ummm... well.. what does it have??? i know it has buffy and spike having numerous (bear in mind that i have just read the member's guide a second ago) Rounds of Golf each episode, but other than that, is there anything?? is it even funny anymore? is it action-packed anymore? in my opinion the answers to these questions are "no".
Xander hasn't been funny for years now, but instead of him we had spike, but now spike has become buffy's lover, we don't even have comedy there anymore. We have pretty much lost tara as a character, Dawn's hardly ever in it anymore, Giles has left. It just centres on Buffy killing something, then realising how little she likes life, then going for a round of Golf with spike.
I hate it, i hate it, i hate it, i hate it. doesn't mean i won't watch it anymore, but still.... why isn't it good anymore?

Yeah, change is good, I *hate* it when things get stale and samey, mind you I'm like that with a lot of things.. I get bored easily, which probably explains the presence of so many "toys" in my room
This is because they count the sunday repeat as well. Personally, I think thats a bit of a cheat, but it would go a long way to explaining why buffy's had new found popularity. I mean I usually watch Buffy on saturday as well as thursday, purely to see what was cut.

EastEnders regularly tops the terrestrial viewing figures
And yes, the 2m figure I was quoting was BBC - but from september last year when it was new episodes of Buffy. SFX used to have the ratings listed for a few months. Buffy is one of the most popular shows on Terrestial analogue though.
It really isn't.

From last weeks Broadcast:
Buffy isn't in the top 50 programmes (the 50th had 4.37 million viewers).
It isn't in the top 30 on BB2, Channel 4 or Channel 5 (the 30th had 2.09 million and was edited highlights of the London Marathon).
It was however the third most popular programme on digital television, with 0.85 million viewers.
Was Buffy on last week? I thought it had been Snooker for the last few weeks?

Also, bear in mind that BBC2 are showing repeats of Season 2 at the moment. Were the figures higher when they were showing the new Season 5 eps?
I couldn't agree more

Sorry, I meant cult shows. It is always in the top 3 or thereabouts.

And of course you are forgetting it is repeats, and its not prime time. If buffy was on in a primetime slot like 24, I think the viewers would go right up. I mean superman was getting in excess of 5m when it used to be on saturdays at 9pm.
I would like to see Buffy season 6 on where 24 is at the moment - considering the nature of it I think it would be much better suited there, than 6.45. Plus you've got to take into account the BBC is reshifting its early evening lineup to a more simpsons orientated one - makes sense as they would want to milk it for everything its worth.
And also, did anyone read about the BBC getting in touble for its dumbing down of home-produced shows to get ratings! Ha! Ha! Ha! That'll learn them to broadcast crap like Joy of Text and The national lottery saturdays. Cult shows would be much better there.
