I voted for Doctor Who. A great series that's survived generation after generation. A close second has to go to The Prisoner though, absolute classic. And Tripods rocked too!
Which is the best classic British Scifi?
Avengers (3%)
The Prisoner (9%)
Doctor Who (47%)
Blakes 7 (6%)
Tomorrow People (0%)
Tripods (3%)
Ultraviolet (18%)
B.U.G.S. (6%)
Other (9%)

What about Crime Traveller? Surely the greatest British Sci-Fi show of all time? The fact that it only lasted one series is purely incidental
I voted for Doctor Who although I was leaning towards Bugs (loved it!) but Doctor Who has so much more history compared to Bugs that I went with Dr Who in the end.
Good call that man!!

I think we are all forgetting about the best ever...
Red Dwarf!!
Definately! I'd have voted for that instead of Doctor Who if it had been on the list

To be fair, you are right. It is definitely a sit-com first and a sci-fi show second (or sometimes third... or sometimes not at all.. lol!)

I guess I counted it more as a sitcom, and as such not 'proper' scifi
But whatever it is, it's the best at it!
That steaming silageheap Bugs gets 11% of the vote while that subversive classic The Prisoner gets none? Travesty!
One I've not helped to put right mind, cos I liked Ultraviolet even more. Best screen take on vampires (much better than Buffy ) I've ever seen.

There was a limit to the number of shows I could include. I left out S&S even though I love it because it only had 4 stories, where the others ran longer, other than Ultraviolet, which I included because it was more recent and the only showing for channel 4.

Just a thought - where's Sapphire and Steel? Did that come under sci-fi?
Also, I promised to let him off the rack if he did.

I voted for The Prisoner, but one of my favorites is The Survivors, from the early 1970's. Being in America, I have low quality videos of 8 of the first 10 episodes, but I really want them on DVD. If only the BBC would ship them across the pond to us!
But The Prisoner is also a most excellent choice. As are the others on the list - man I love BBC sci-fi!

I agree, it's the most scientifically plausible and I personally think realistically countered vampire scenario in sci-fi.

It's SUCH a shame that it only lasted 1 season. The colours used were amazing in that it was so "everyday" and I think that added so much to the realism.
Plus the government hit squad were ruthless, no-nonsense professional hardarses who thought nothing of framing, bullying and kicking the living crap out of anyone in their way. Exactly how a government would go about tackling vampires. Compare that to the Ohio Oak's goons in Buffy, blundering round university campuses dressed like GI Joe and filling their own HQ with an angry hoard of their prey. Definitely from the Mark Thatcher school of military thinking.
Having said that, it became a sci-fi show comedy in the latter, Rob Grant-less, series.
